NEW YORK, Dec. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ Atria Books announced today that A MAN CALLED OVE by internationally bestselling author Fredrik Backman has surpassed one million copies in print in the United States after 43 printings. Now published in 40 languages, Fredrik Backman's books have sold more than five million copies around the globe.

A MAN CALLED OVE reached the #1 spot on the New York Times paperback fiction bestseller list on December 4 and has been on the Times list for nearly one full year (48 consecutive weeks as of today). At the same time, Backman's second novel, MY GRANDMOTHER ASKED ME TO TELL YOU SHE'S SORRY, has appeared on the New York Times paperback fiction bestseller list for 32 consecutive weeks and counting.

A MAN CALLED OVE was released in hardcover in July 2014 to glowing reviews and quickly became a bookseller favorite. Upon its release in paperback in May 2015, the book began to climb independent bookstore bestseller lists, making its first appearance on the New York Times printed list on January 3, 2016; the book has remained on the list ever since. MY GRANDMOTHER ASKED ME TO TELL YOU SHE'S SORRY first hit the New York Times paperback fiction bestseller list on April 24, two weeks after its paperback publication, and has remained as well.

BRITT-MARIE WAS HERE, Backman's third novel, is scheduled for paperback publication in Spring 2017. BEARTOWN, his next full length, is scheduled for publication in hardcover, ebook and audiobook versions on April 25, 2017. It is about an isolated town deep in the forest whose hopes for a brighter future rest on the young shoulders of its junior ice hockey team, who have a chance at winning the national title.
