With the West and the East becoming more polarized every day, it isn't hard to imagine a future in which the varying regions of the globe sever diplomatic relations altogether.

"The Winners," the new novel from author Robert S. Hoyle, brilliantly envisions such a scenario. Newly formed confederacies begin closing their borders, and the world becomes a collection of governments completely isolated from the rest of the world. The extremity seems to stem the tide of violence that has plagued international relations in the recent past, but it's unclear just how long the uneasy peace will last before the tension explodes once again.

Hoyle came up with the idea for the book after becoming fed up with the current global political climate. "The Winners" presents a unique perspective on the potential dangers and long-reaching effects of the tense political relations around the world today.

Now retired, Hoyle resides in a small rural village in Spain.
