New Book Asks Global politics: tense today, worse tomorrow?

With the West and the East becoming more polarized every day, it isn't hard to imagine a future in which the varying regions of the globe sever diplomatic relations altogether.

"The Winners," the new novel from author Robert S. Hoyle, brilliantly envisions such a scenario. Newly formed confederacies begin closing their borders, and the world becomes a collection of governments completely isolated from the rest of the world. The extremity seems to stem the tide of violence that has plagued international relations in the recent past, but it's unclear just how long the uneasy peace will last before the tension explodes once again.

Robert S. Hoyle served with the Royal and United States Air Forces for 18 years in the UK, Malta, Germany and Libya. His long and varied civilian career took him all around the world: from London to Lebanon, Turkey to Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia to Scotland, and everywhere in between. Now retired, Hoyle resides in a small rural village in Spain.
