Singer Mary Elizabeth Micari (a.k.a. Reverend Mary and her M Band) begins a series of live performances culminating with the release of her new album, The Musements.

She begins in her hometown of Brooklyn as part of Make Music NY's Summer Concert Series on the Longest Day of the Year, tonight, June 21 @ 6:00 p.m., in Owl's Head Park, 68 Colonial Road, Brooklyn. She is joined by fellow singer, Mario Claudio, whose voice can be heard backing up Rev. Mary on her recording of "Wild Horses."

"I can't wait to stand in front of my neighbors in Brooklyn and SING!" says Micari, a 30-year veteran of the American theater.

Micari is classically trained and has performed in a broad array of genres - recently focusing Jazz & Blues. She recorded an album called The Musements (Release Date: August 2016) and several songs on Sound Cloud and other outlets as well as appearing in numerous concerts and cabarets.

Mary is known for her work in the classics - both opera and Shakespeare. She has performed in operatic works at Lincoln Center, St. Stephen's Concert Hall, Mirken Hall, and the Donell Library to name a few. Her work in Shakespeare spans numerous national locals with credits that include Comedy of Errors, Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, Julius Caesar, and many others. She is artistic director of Genesis Repertory and its performing arts school, the M Center where she teaches voice and music.

For nearly a decade, she had the "koolest day-job of all-time," working with Tony-Award-winning designers on the Broadway productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Aida, Wicked, Little Women, The Light in the Piazza, Wonderful Town, Spamalot, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, to name a few; learning from the best on Broadway and film ... Maureen McGovern, Chita Rivera, Jerry Orbach, Robert Morse, Raul Esparza, Philip Bosco, and Carol Lawrence (again, to name a few) and studying with Phil Gushee, Larry Moss, Marko Lampus (a student of Maria Callas), Maria Dornya, Ray McDermott, and Barbara Iona Miller.

Five years ago, Mary was diagnosed Rheumatoid Arthritis, a painful and incurable auto-immune disease. She was told it would damage her limbs, organs, and voice. Conventional treatments failed. The only option left to her was a drug that has been known to cause cancer. Mary's family has a long history of cancer, so this was impossible.

She dived into alternative medicine - herbalism, aromatherapy, meditation, crystals, sound and music healing, plus REIKI.

She has managed to hold her disease at bay and her gorgeous voice intact - and actually stronger. Now, she teaches these methods to others artists as part of her P.A.T.H. Method (Performing Arts training - Holistically). She is a respected member of the healing community, REIKI Master, certified sound healer, and herbalist... and an ordained Minister.

She is now composing music using modern and ancient instruments.
