Who do we think will be cast in the Arena production of Hairspray?

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

HAIRSPRAY is coming here in 2010? What's an Arena production?

If that girl from MONSTER HOUSE can sing, she might get Tracy Turnblad.

I thought the big redheaded girl who was one of the three 'urchins' in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at the New Theatre would be a wonderful Traci.

And I think the suggestion someone made of Phillip Quast as Edna is pretty good.

Edna - Phillip Quast would be great. This time last year I would've suggested Rob Guest but sadly that will never be.
Tracy - hopefully a relative unknown.
Wilbur - maybe Gary McDonald?
Velma - I can see Rhonda Burchmore being cast in the role (I'm not a fan of hers, but I can definitely see it happening)

You're right! I thought the same thing when I saw LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (only I'd forgotten). That stout girl would be perfect.

Maybe Hayden Tee for Link?

Mark Trevorrow would be terrific as Corny Collins.

And bring back Adam-Jon Fiorentino from New York to play Link if he's not still starring in "Mary Poppins" on Broadway.

No, no, no... Mark Trevorrow is not a very good singer (I've seen him perform several times), and he would put too much camp into one of the "straight" roles in an already camp musical.

After seeing GUYS & DOLLS last night, I think Gary McDonald would be excellent as Wilbur Turnblad.

Hope this goes to a theatre and not arena!!

Waitlist tickets are being offered by showbiz and a couple of other ticket outlets....announcement should be soon...

No idea if this will be arena still or sit down

God I wish they would just get around to announcing this.

Me too. I picked up the 2DVD set of the film at JB Hi-Fi today for $19.95.

Okay, now that it's official, who's going to be cast?

Please, please, please not Shane Jacobson as Edna. I love Shane, but I don't think he's good enough for this pivotal role.

I just received a message via email that read "It is Shane, i feel your disappointment also, and pity the poor actors who are still auditioning for a role that is pre cast" but you deleted it.

Do you now if it's true or not?

The auditions are being held across the road from where I live on May 8. I'm going to go and film the auditionees and put it on YouTube.

I notice 4,095 people have looked at this topic, yet only 12 have left comments. A pity more people in Australia who are interested in musical theatre don't contribute to this messageboard.

If it is Shane Jacobson I'm disappointed. I mean, really?

I think Shane's terrific but I don't think he's right for this role. I hope he proves me wrong. I'd rather see Maria Venuti, to be frank.

I'd have gone for someone like Doug Parkinson. Someone suggested Wilbur Wilde to me, which after consideration isn't so bad.

I don't know about Wilbur Wilde. What about Mick Molloy? He's got comedic talent.

Well, Edna Turnblad is no high-brow beauty. I'd take Mick over Bert Newton or Shane Jacobson any day.

No, beyond his meagre capabilities. It won't be Bert (too hard for him at his age). Wouldn't be surprised if it were Jacobson, though he would be a long way down my list.

Hey, do you think there is anyone else out there...or is it just you and me here?
