It was one of those nights at the theatre that I won't forget, but I can't say I enjoyed myself. I felt somehow distanced from it, perhaps by the grotesqueries and the style, but I did like the Gorey-like macabreness of the stories. I remember being very excited and impressed by Feliciano and the other musicians, and I have always thought very highly of Candy Buckley (I have followed her career since she was a member of the Dallas Theatre Center company). I came away from it interested in the cchallenges of the style but not impassioned by any of the stories.
I loved it. It was very different and odd but that was what was so interesting about it. And I saw Paul Kandel in it as the narrator. He was fabulous. I wonder what show he's doing now...anyone else know? Anyway, I loved this show.
I don't know who we are anymore, and I'm starting not to care.
Don't you remember? It was good. It was really good.
On the flip side, I'm seeing PL this weekend, and your early review (and its several subsequents) got me all excited and aroused about it. I fully intend to sleep with Mr. Gross afterwards.

missthemountains, as far as I know, there is no licensing available. It was kind of a multimedia cabaret event with the Tiger Lillies that did extended tour stops for a few years. The band did all of the productions if I'm not mistaken.
I'm between Jordan and growl on the show itself. I enjoyed it for what it was, but I wouldn't classify it as a night of theater. It was that whole punk cabaret thing that bands like The Tiger Lillies and The Dresden Dolls lived in for years. The puppets were a nice touch, but I didn't think it had any more dramatic heft or purpose than when Amanda Palmer toured with an Australian dance theater company.
I don't know who we've become anymore, either. Some nights I just stare in the mirror and for just a moment catch a glimpse of myself before this all started. But like time itself, it's fleeting and leaves me just as quickly as it came.
All I know is that if you sleep with Paul Gross and don't invite me along, you're dead to me.
