I just saw 'Sunset Boulevard' yesterday and absolutely loved it, and was wondering if there is a cast recording out for this current production? Or if there will be one at all? Any news would be greatly appreciated!

RCPanned - we've been chatting about that in the Sunset Blvd revival thread - but with over 45 pages it might be hard to find that discussion...
As of right now, there's not been any plans for a new recording... but we keep tweeting @MichaelXavierUK; @SiobhanDillon; @TheGlennClose @OfficialALW @SunsetBlvd asking them to do so - and usually Michael and Siobhan like/retweet these requests... so us fans are crossing our fingers. Especially since the cast are stronger and the orchestrations are so much fuller than the original one.
The one rumor is that if Sunset returns to LA then they may finally preserve this cast.
Glad you enjoyed it! I was at the matinee yesterday - When were you there ?

Seeing how Lonny Price loves to have his productions filmed for release, I wonder if we could expect to see Sunset Boulevard filmed for BroadwayHD.

I would LOVE it to be preserved, one way or another, officially. Glenn herself has said she won't be doing the role again.

I think that last year when it was at ENO - they had intended to film it (I remember reading about a Q & A with Lonny Price and that was asked and he said it was going to be) - but I think with Glenn's unexpected illness mid-run and then when the initial talks of it coming to Broadway started picking up steam, they scrapped it. But I'm really kind of surprised that there has not been talks on this. Whether or not a movie version ever happens - you would think that like the Phantom 25th anniversary concert, they'd want to have this preserved with that 40 piece orchestra and with these types of legendary performances.
After all the drama of the first Broadway production, I wondered if Sunset would ever be revived again (and if it did, would it be some horrendous version where we're supposed to think an orchestra with actors playing and performing is some major artistic feat as opposed to a full, lush version like this)
What's the likelihood of Sunset Blvd. ever being seen like this again?

I wish they'd filmed the original production, but at this point I'd be happy with any version on DVD. Truthfully, I think this is the last we'll see of this show, so I really wish they'd release it.

I hate to agree with you on this Lot666... But trying to get all the elements right on this - having an actress of real gravitas, having a massive orchestra, etc... makes it very difficult to really stage correctly. One of ALW's best scores deserves to be preserved for us fans

There are already several recordings of SB; the world doesn't need another. This production will not be filmed. This production will not extend. This production will not be done in LA.

While I also believe that this production is not likely to be recorded in any legitimate way, I don't see the existence of several recordings of the show as being any sort of rationale for that. We have multiple recordings for many shows. The best, and most extreme example is Les Miserables. The number of recordings of Les Miserables is mind boggling, and yet every few years a new one comes out.

I'm so weary of posts like this one from A Director. This board is filled with some of the b*tchiest people I've ever encountered, who seem to live solely for the opportunity to post snarky rejoinders. I've found that blocking certain people can really improve one's experience around here.

I was also at the Saturday matinee! What a small world. I won the digital lottery. Made my whole weekend. What an incredible production! I'm really hoping they do a cast recording, mainly because I really loved Michael Xavier's voice!

I much prefer Xavier to Campbell's voice (and his inflections/acting choices)...Definitely encourage you to tweet at xavier, siobhan, glenn, alw and sunset - as everytime I write a tweet about recording them, siobhan and xavier at least like it or retweet it... So they're definitely on board!
Also on the Sunset FB page they asked for people's favorite SB song... might be nice to add your hopes for a recording/video there.

Thank you very much for all of these tips. I will definitely tweet at them and anyone else who can make this happen! I don't think I've ever so desperately wanted a particular cast recording to get made.
