Listening to the recording for the first time in years as I'm seeing a local production of SPAMALOT. Love the show and I can't wait to revisit it on Sunday. I was wondering, when it was on Broadway, did any audience member in the "grail seat" ever object or decline to be brought up on stage? What if the person had mobility issues? If the person declined, how did Patsy et al handle it? I assume the cast had rehearsed for just such a response.
maybe someone in production staff just kept an eye on the person in that seat to see how they react throughout the show and if they dont seem like the sort who will want to or can, pick another nearby seat number?
