Surprised to see Laura Linney win over Laurie Metcalf- Linney was fine, but for me Metcalf gave the performance of the season. I really hope that is reversed for the Tonys.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
1) Is Laura Linney gearing up to win the Tony next week? Might she be a "surprise" over Metcalf?
2) What an exciting night for The Band's Visit. Lots of momentum before its Broadway debut this fall, and I can't wait to see it.
3) Disappointed in Bette's no-show as well, but what can you do? Hoping for the best at the big leagues next Sunday.
4) I agree with some others on here who think that the Dear Evan Hansen steamroll is gone. Come from Away and especially Great Comet seem to have serious potential headed into next week (and CFA seems to have Book on lock now, at the very least).

"
Not to speculate on strangers' personal lives (also this isn't really the forum to discuss gossip, so I'll leave it at this:) but a close friend of mine recently mentioned that one of her college buddies is dating Gavin. And he is definitely not Taylor Trensch.
I'm not seeing anyone really discuss but man Katrina Lenk performing The Band's Visit simply captivated me. I absolutely can't wait to see the show after hearing such postive things.
Unless Mr.Creel was absolutely amazing in his role, and completely disappeared into the part, Mr. Uranowitz deserved the honor. His portrayal of Mendel was brilliant. I am not seeing Hello Dolly! for two more weeks so I do not know this information. But, I am sure most of the voters saw the original Dolly when it was on Broadway....So, there is that. Boo.
Also disappointed that Bette was a no show. It feels liKe the show and it's star believe they just don't need the rest of the Broadway community. Bummer indeed.
Its also possible that she skipped the event due to the major backlash she is getting on Twitter for her tweet about the London attack ("men and religion are worthless".
Gah, so bummed that The Band's Visit couldn't pull off the upset over Come From Away but so glad it's going to open on Broadway! Have no idea how I missed that news!

Yes!!! Katrina's performance was entrancing and it was wonderful to hear "Omar Sharif" again. It's a gorgeous song.
As Tiger said above, I was also really disappointed to see The Band's Visit not take Best Musical. It really deserved it, but I suspect that it will be next year's frontrunner at the Tonys.

"I also heard that from sources but after doing 7 shows and after the Sunday mat. exhaustion must have hit in and I doubt she wanted to wait around till 8:00 sitting at the DD's till her category was announced after 10 PM...smart move to just go home then...relax on your 2 days off as this is the start of TONY week!
Go Bette!!!

Sunday in the Park with George
JENN COLELLA! Since Rachel Bay Jones is likely getting that Tony, I'm thrilled that Jenn is cleaning up wherever she can. She gave me such confidence in my singing that I'll forever be grateful.
