Do you think there would be an appetite for playbills - a free sheet with a cast/creatives list - in the UK, in addition to programmes? Or do you like buying a proper programme as part of the theatregoing experience?
I missed the "free" playbills you get in the US while seeing shows in the UK. (Playbills aren't really free - they are just part of the ticket price!) We rarely purchased a programme due to cost.
The National does have those free sheets with cast/creatives. So,the National thinks people want them. But, the issue for the theatres is whether that sheet detracts from sales of programmes.
The cost for theatre programs or souvenir books are outrageous. Some are $10 to 15 and that the only way you find out about things. Why give out free playbills , when you have a cash cow in the house.
