Is Cats as bad as so many say it is? I have tickets, but purchased the insurance in case I changed my mind. I'm starting to really question my decision. If I got the refund, what should I use it for?

No, it really isn't that bad. The problem that people have with it is that it's just kind of about nothing and it doesn't put in that much work to make you care about any of the characters—but in my opinion, that ends up being okay because it's just pure entertainment. There's never a moment when I wasn't actively engaged with the show.

I already have tickets for those. Some of the shows I'm torn between that I don't have tickets for are: Amelie, Groundhog Day, Present Laughter, Significant Other, Anastasia, Miss Saigon, Jitney, and Chicago (depending on who is in the cast in March). I also don't mind any show that is likely to have lots of Tony buzz.

I would probably go see Groundhog Day or Anastasia. Both have gotten really strong reviews out of town. You should only go see Cats if you're already a fan. I'm not an ALW hater, I like some of his work, but Cats isn't very good in my opinion, especially this production.

Overall, I did like the show. I must admit that I had a difficult time following the story as it went along. Loved the actress who played Griz, the White Cat and the Tap Dancing Cat. The show itself wasn't bad. One particular audience member tarnished my first time seeing Cats.

I didn't really like it, but my mom loved it. My mom has a hard time understanding spoken dialogue in the theater (English is not her first language, and she has gotten a bit hard of hearing). But she loved the dancing, the melodies, and the cute "Cats" schticks. So it's a perfect momsical. I wouldn't say it's that bad. Just that it's sort of like Nutcracker -- a musical for those who aren't that hardcore into musicals.

From that list, I'd definitely go with Groundhog Day and Significant Other, which I loved Off-Broadway.
Ultimately, I'd rather pick a new show that tries to aim high and misses than Cats, which aims low and hits it target. If you like the idea of a bunch of singing cats singing about what type of cats they are for 2 hours, then I'm sure it's heaven...

I think this show illustrates that, given the chance to tell a story, cats have nothing much more than that to say...

I did get to see it on tour 7 or 8 years ago. So maybe it's just a one and done kind of thing for me. I'm also curious about Miss Saigon. Is that a good show?

I actually love ALW - love Phantom and really enjoyed School of Rock - but CATS is just awful. I don't even think the melodies are nice - besides Memory which is a knockout. The staging is boring and didn't feel like there was any spectacle at all!

For sure you should go with Significant Other or Groundhog Day. Totally agree with wanting s new show over the sane old cats.

I really suck at decisions. The more I research the less confident I get. Now I'm looking at The Price, and Come From Away in addition to Significant Other and Miss Saigon.
