So, after watching Aladdin last week, I must say I was impressed with the overall spectacle and loved the performance of the genie and ensemble. Unfortunately Jade was on holiday, and while her understudy had a superb voice there was no connection between her portrayal of Jasmine and Aladdin.
That brings me onto Dean John Wilson, I'm afraid his performance is really subpar and is much weaker than the rest of the cast. The quality of his performance is not the expected standard of a West End lead: his acting is unconvincing; his delivery at times inaudible; he counts music with his fingers during the numbers, and fails to listen to the others when they are interacting with him. It is a real shame that this spectacular production has such a weak protagonist, when the rest of the cast are phenomenal, especially Stephen Rahman Hughes as Kassim.
There must be something he's good at. He's dating Cynthia Erivo.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.
