Posted: 10/3/16 at 12:36amWell there aren't many celebrities out there who virtually everyone in a country knows by name and the ones that are are far too famous and busy to be willing to do something like The Voice. Will.i.Am was a previous judge and I doubt that everyone knew who he was either. Jennifer Hudson is still a fairly big name for those that keep up with popular culture, she is an Oscar winner after all. Dreamgirls had a wide release here etc. but the type of people that watch The Voice tend to be older and less aware of celebrities than the younger generations.

Yes. Most of us know her indeed. We watch American Idol and the Dreamgirls film was huge here. She may not have reached dizzying heights charts performance wise, but she is more of an established name than Daisy Lowe's father.

Just got done polling the last 300,000.
Final tally: 27,878,736 know who she is, 25,214,882 don't know who she is.

Well I can't talk on behalf of the English, Welsh and Irish but there is a fair few of us in Scotland who know who she is.
Most people in the UK know her as the chubby actress who played Carrie Bradshaw's assistant in Sex and the City. Her singing career wasn't really a thing.

By name no hardly anyone will know who she is outside of certain circles (e.g. theatre and musical.fans). If you explain she was in sex and the city and dreamgirls somemore may recognise her but may still shrug shoulders as to what the big deal is
Also dreamgirls did good business but it didnt make her a star here

I do, but many/most Brits won't.
American Idol is not shown as a major TV programme here (we have The X Factor for that - it's tucked away on a lesser watched channel in the afternoons if it shows at all). Dreamgirls is a mostly forgotten film, and we've not really seen Jennifer Hudson in much of anything since then.
You're asking the wrong audience here - Facebook is made up of average "men on the street", whereas BWW is going to be filled with people who of COURSE know who she is...

American Idol was based on Pop Idol, which was one of the precursors to X Factor. X Factor is a combination of two shows, Popstars and Pop Idol, that no longer exist here.
Doesn't alter the fact that no-one really cares about American Idol here!

Certain demographics will have heard of her, those into musicals or diva worship etc but the average man on the street, no. I work in a pretty big open plan office witha range of ages and sexes and asked if anyone knew her, no one did. I then explained what she has been in and a few knew her then but it was a 'meh' reaction
