Did anyone just watch all of the broadway starts sing "what the world needs now" on the Maya and Marty show tonight? the recording is now on itunes and processed go to the victims of orlando. stars that sang were:
alice ripley, billy porter, chia rivera, sean hayes, megan hilti, jesse mullar, brian stokes mitchell, lillias white, roger bart, seth redusky, marrisa jarret winokor, carmen cusack, joel grey, rosie perez, michelle lee, kellie o'heria, and so many more that i cant remeber. (sorry for all the miss spelled names.
Guessing that had to have been taped and not Live given all the people in it that had shows to do tonight! Originally thought seeing Rory in there indicated Groff might be back and filming tonight, but then saw Erivo, Mueller, Fun Home peeps, etc.
SNAFU said: "Chi, the entire show is taped. It is not Live like SNL. This week they will be taping two shows so as not to run into the 4th of July holiday.
I thought it was incredibly sweet and their hearts were all in it. Charles Bush was just beaming!!! I thought the camera work was a bit awkward but then who am I to quibble for it was such a beautiful idea! I liked all of the singers contributions although I thought the song was very well suited to Porter and Mueller. I do think the video of the actual recording was very well done (where were Groff and Lapone?) and many of the Broadway stars involved and featured were not on the TV program which was too bad. They must have done some last minute improvising to replace the original singers and add Maya and Marty.
