I got an email from Ticketmaster's settlement administrator today saying I was a class member in the Schlesinger v. Ticketmaster class action and it was settled. Lots of details to read about an apparent discount I will be receiving in light of the settlement. Anyone else get this? I'll be researching and reading up on it, but wondering what your thoughts are?

ETA: Found some interesting information here: http://www.ticketfeelitigation.com/faq#Q1

I received the email on May 1st.  You won't receive your one discount code, or know how many others you are entitled to, until June 18th.

I received this email a couple of weeks ago.  Was curious how much my"prize" maybe.  Thanks to your link, Stage Door Sally, it looks like it is $5.  With a maximum of $15 (3 codes)  Big deal.  That doesn't pay for the fees of one ticket.

$42 million to those who bought tickets from 1999-2013.  How much did you think you'd get?  $5-15 is more than you'd get from most class action settlements.

Class action suits are a way to be punitive to the offending party, not as an actual way to make it up to those involved.

I received $9,000 from a health insurance class action settlement.   $3,000 from my thyroid medication class action suit.  Your above statement is not always the case.

He did say MOST, not all.

He stated  that $5-$15 is more than you would receive in most settlements.  He implied that less than that would be in the remaining.  I mentioned just two that I received a substantial amount.  The remaining, I have been involved in, paid well over $100 or more.   Certainly not in the $5-$15 range.

Your above statement is not always the case.

I didn't say it was.  There are always exceptions, especially when compared to class actions involving medical and health issues where damages may include loss of life.  If the settlement is $42 million to those who bought tickets from Ticketmaster over a 13-year period, how much were you expecting from this class action?

The remaining, I have been involved in, paid well over $100 or more.

Lucky you.  Again, that's not actually common, though with all your class actions, I can see why you might think it's the norm.

Yes, Missy,  if someone is going to hand me over a check for doing absolutely nothing, I say lucky me.  Maybe you could be so lucky?

Anyone know anything about the Ticket Codes (not discounts?). I'm wondering if they will be valid for events I'd actually want to attend.

Might I suggest reading the FAQ?

So more concerts were released today and I just starting snatching up any big names in cities I know people in and will give them to them to enjoy. I found out today that Ticketmaster only have to give out 42 million in free tickets, so if some people don't get to user their vouchers it doesn't matter. After today they will have given out 10 million in free tickets. This gravy train wont last long.

I got Heart, Cheap Trick and Joan Jett in various cities, Goo Goo Dolls in various cities and Gwen Stefani in various cities and some Dixie Chicks. There is a lot of crap posted too.

Today I received a letter that I am involved with a class action suit concerning McAfee Security.  They identified me as a past/current customer.  This was totally unsolicited by me.  I don't know if the settlement will be a $1.00 or a $1,000.  All I know is I have to do absolutely nothing to receive these monies.  Only a total dumb ass would refuse free money.
