So, I know Tuck Everlasting was supposed to perform today on NBC's Today show... but it did not?

According to the tv description of the show, they were scheduled, but I went through the entire show and there was no Tuck segment shown. I wonder what happened.

They would still perform. Side Show did a segment they day the found out they were closing, and even mentioned only through January 4th on the air. I doubt them not performing has to do with a looming unofficial closure.

Heard that it was weather-related again.

It's been overcast all day but hardly wet. What, was their performance supposed to be solar-powered or something?

Don't the producers of the musical have to pay for the appearance? Not sure if they are solely responsible or if they split the costs with NBC. But maybe they just don't want to spend the money since they can't possibly run much longer.

I actually assumed this performance was the cornerstone of their "big press push," and that the postponement from last week to today was the reason they've been waiting to post a closing notice. Yikes that it didn't happen.

Wait so the show is really that bad? I mean the critic reviews sounded good... and everyone I know that saw it loved it and some are going back to see it again. Are we assuming a closing notice based off of just box office crossings?

Yes, the show is bring in less money than it costs to run. That's literally the only reason a show closes.

Do I think that Andrew is a psychic? No, of course not. However, it seems to me that they looked at the forecast for today (which did call for rain) and made a judgment call based on that.

I used to work on a morning show that had a couple Broadway casts come and perform (Not as often as NBC does, it was a rarity for us. We more often had musicians.) and the network would pay the performing cast members for the performance.

To be fair, Andrew Keenan-Bolger does have a history of being able to predict the weather on account of his bum leg.

Because the producers probably told him. You really don't believe they would cancel the morning of a live telecast leaving a hole in the program.

Not true, shows do close for other reasons, including not being able to finds suitable replacement or if the theatre owner thinks they have a new tennant that will bring in more money. Sometimes that backfires (Closing CRAZY FOR YOU for BIG)
