"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

His comment about replacing her and her not receiving her Tony Award is a little elementary if you ask me. And a little jump-at-the-gun, as if she was a shoe-in for a Lead Actress Tony next year *eye roll*
It's a bit rich of ALW to condemn someone for changing their mind after signing a contract; he seems to have forgotten that's exactly what he did to Patti LuPone. (I'd love to hear her reaction to this. Please, Josh, film your mom's reaction!) Ah, well. Guess this proves turn-about is fair play.
This piece of news also shows, much as ALW learned on his aborted U.S. arena tour of JCS, that he has no clue what American audiences want to see in terms of star elements. Nicole Scherzinger is just barely known in the U.S. C-list celeb at maximum. I guarantee you if you mentioned her name to someone who has no clue about either her theater credits or the Pussycat Dolls, unless they're a record exec, they might very well have no idea.
Further, never mind "elementary" -- he sounds a little too frustrated, almost like he was planning to play Svengali a la Brightman. Good for you, Nicole; you dodged a bullet, and X Factor probably pays better anyway!
He adds, "But never mind, there'll be another girl on Broadway and Nicole will not get her Tony Award."
What a grown up.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

I think you guys are miss reading the tone of his comment. He is a huge fan of her talent, and thought this would be a spectacular opportunity for her to become a star New York. When he says he is "furious" he's over exaggerating meaning he's disappointed American audiences won't get to see what he thinks is so special.

Yeah, it's moments like this that make me wish Patti had Twitter.

Ask Faye what she thinks of this "capricious" man.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello

Your profile implies you really want the revival. Why are you asking this?
Also, I'd much rather they don't abort the revival, for the sake of cast and crew. There are some really talented folks in there who could use the job.

Best bww one-liner ever.
Greasedlight.., even Buckley's Grizabella Tony was in the featured category, but thought it's arguably presumptuous, I don't think it was meant to be taken that literally.
Frankly, I agree with Queen Alice that the "I'm furious" and snark comment are quite likely being taken out of context; a usual case of clickbait headline hysteria. I'm sure ALW isn't happy - who would be? - but this seems like quite an overreaction. And I agree the comment is probably just as likely to be complimentary to NS, than meaning that ALW is seething, or has no sense of his own history when it comes to backing out. And quite likely they'll find a replacement who is to some degree a draw (maybe in this case someone even I've actually heard of)
I'm with ALW on this one, Scherzinger missed her calling as one of the greatest Broadway performers of the century... Bummer that she won that lame reality competition and became a C-list star instead... But like... Karma is a bitch lol.
I think it's incorrect to say Nicole is unknown in America. The Pussycat dolls were huge in America. Sure she hasn't had much success as a solo singer and she's definitely a lot more well known in the UK but I think she's known by some people in the US.

What competition did she win? I don't remember her being a reality show participant, although she has judged on several (The Sing Off and X Factor). I like Nicole and I don't think she's nearly as obscure to Americans as you all think. Her name by itself maybe a little, but I think she's physically recognizable. I think her voice is terrific too.
