When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Omg YES! Love GOLDEN APPLE as well as THE NEW YORKERS if it is indeed the Cole Porter revue. Pity the likely all-star APPLE probably won't be recorded since we just got the lyric opera version.
I'm not familiar with The New Yorkers at all, but I am assuming it's the Porter revue... since the other two options are either a 1901 "musical" or a pretty obscure 1927 revue.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
Just curious where folks are seeing this - Playbill posted an article and then took it down I think. Want to share this news with the big Big River fan in my life :)
wasn't Big River on Broadway not that long ago? Golden Apple makes sense. I wish PS Classics had waited just a little longer to record it. (OT I was thinking recently The Rink might be good for Encores! and how perfect Patti would be for it.)
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
My first thought was the same, gypsy. I don't even know who will be in the cast of The Golden Apple, but it's a shame PSClassics has already recorded it. That recording isn't terrible, but I can only imagine the top notch cast we may get for the Encores production.
The New Yorkers may have a scatterbrained plot and characters, but it does have plot and characters and isn't a revue.
I half suspect that The Golden Apple wouldn't be scheduled now if we DIDN'T already have the PS Classics recording -- either because it convinced Encores of its viability, or because it means that they won't be lynched if they don't make a new recording. (Although I want one too!)
way to go encores....Cole porters new yorkers...woo hoo
they have to record and release this!!!!
there is indeed a complete script and book,,, this is not a review
there is not a complete recording of this anywhere to my knowledge and long search other than a terrible quality bootleg of a london lost musicals revival
