Color Purple tickets are being sold into the summer, long after the original run was supposed to end. Has there been word on extensions or re-casting?

Oh, some of the ensemble told me that the leads were only contracted until April, so I just wondered. Initially, the show was only selling until March.

The leads...Not themselves. And those dates not matching up is also a sign, if it was going to be limited, they would have (likely) sold tickets for the entire span.
I'm hoping Ill still get to see the Full cast in late April.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

No one in the ensemble told you that. I know that for a FACT! Who on earth would leave a show 4 months after it opens? And contractually, there is no such contract for 4 months.

Actually, a person can be contracted for any length of time. But that's beside the point. When the show began previews the original word was that Jennifer Hudson had be contracted for six months. November-April: six months. I doubt any of the leads are leaving (we would have heard by now, probably), but it's not an outrageous question to ask.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

That's not always been the case. We sometimes don't find out about high-profile cast members leaving until 3 weeks before. What we should have heard about by now is that they have extended their contracts. Probably in a week or so. I doubt any of the leads are going to leave. All are possible nominees at the Tonys and Drama Desk this year, and some potential winners too.

It's known that Hudson only has a 6 month contract. not sure about Erivo or Brooks, but I'd imagine the producers would want all 3 to stay with the show until the Tony Awards. I'm sure if Hudson extends, she'll likely ask for a 2-3 week vacation.

that's good to hear. When I saw this a few weeks ago, every time Cynthia Erivo was singing I forgot anyone else was on the stage. She is incredible and when I go to see this a 2nd time she'll be the one I'll be crossing my fingers isn't out on vacation or sick. Not to say everyone else wasn't good, but, Cynthia Erivo is giving one of the best performances I've seen this season and I've seen most of them.

Please have seat. In fact, take several. April would make about 6 months and I don't lie. The cast was upfront, but discreet that they really didn't know how long the leads would be with the show. They weren't telling tales out of school. That is why I asked.

I'll pass your message along to the cast I spoke with. Sheesh, they made a simple comment and I asked a question. Apparently, that's too much for some.

Obviously if a cast member told you that. They told you that in privacy. And here you are starting an entire thread about it.

Yes two cast members tell a complete stranger, someone they have no knowledge of, something. I'm sure they expect complete confidentiality. I imagine what they knew was public knowledge, to at least to those interested, and no big secret or they wouldn't have said it.
Again, sorry if I offended you. I was just interested in possible future casting.

Will white peoples get upset they won't be able to audition for the color purple too?
