I'm not sure how I feel about these...

On the YouTube videos Broadway.com posted there were so many negative comments. One said "this sounds like a cut song from Spider-Man." All the videos are now down from YouTube. This does not look like it's going to have a bright future.

Well at least part of Michael Jackson's Thriller dance is being used!

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

This looks a MESS. The only decent song was Jennifer Damiano's solo.

The "Card" song had me laughing out loud.

A look at Telecharge shows that for the first month the theater isn't even half-sold for each performance  (I stopped looking at that point). This would need strong word of mouth to make it to the Tony's at this point.

Yikes... That was bad. I was so excited for this, but those clips were really underwhelming. And hopefully the choreography translates better in the context of the show itself.

I don't know what others are seeing but I think this looks great. The electronica almost non descript music sits perfectly next to the lyrics and captures the vapid shallow world of yuppie 80s. It also looks like something new and different, if it's anything like the London production (which it looks similar) then I think it will be an exciting production, I'm just hoping the set is similar.

What do you expect? The show's a tough sell to the general public.

The 80s electronic music is exactly the kind of score an American Psycho musical should have. It's very prominent in the film and novel.

I agree with you songanddanceman2 and CATSNYrevival. Also, Benjamin Walker looks fine as hell.

These press preview videos almost never translate the qualities of a show. In this case, it may have done more damage than good.

I think people who are excited about this show and understand the music representing the vapid society will be excited about these clips. Anyone looking for a traditional musical might not be. Personally I would love for this to catch on in the states, a musical for adults is always good ( tough sell but good)

it doesn't help that the broadwayworld video is chopped up and doesn't show the numbers in full.

I have no objection to brief bits of music we heard. As others have said, it seems appropriate to the world of the story.

But the choreography! Oy!

I'm hesitant to judge the whole production based on these videos. It didn't look horrible, and I was excited for it before, so I will still go see it. I would give it a chance, as the promo footage doesn't equal the production itself (it will probably get much better as they get through more rehearsals and previews).

Spider-Man was my first thought too, especially those lyrics. Yikes. I was about to buy tickets for this but I think I'll wait to hear from some trusted voices.

The score sounds perfect for the era, and I'm already loving Damiano and Walker's performances. The only song that didn't grab me was the card song, which seemed kind of dumb (but I think it was meant to be?)

The card song is a highlight, of course it's silly, the situation and context is silly that grown men would feel threatened over who has the best card.

I hope they haven't changed it much since it was in London, because the audience recording I've heard of it there was stunning. It's the first time I've really understood the ending of the story. This press video is kinda bad, though - the lighting and set should help.

Yikes. That video made me very cringey. I got an "edgy-annoying" vibe and couldn't ignore such stale lyrics. Probably won't end up catching this.

Just bought a ticket to this yesterday full price. Wish I had waited one extra day.

Looks like this show lacks any energy.

While I agree that video was less than comforting, everything else I've heard from this show is pretty great and incredibly fitting with the source material. The Duncan Sheik demos are fantastic (especially the finale song, "This is Not An Exit"American Psycho Preview Video. The "stupidity" of the lyrics is very fitting and purposeful as it's a satire and meant to express the shallow world of the story. I remain excited for this show.
