Could someone please post a song list from this production? I'd love to hear views on the new orchestrations, size of the orchestra being used and if the overture is still intact??? Seeing it on 11th April!

On April 11, won't this be in the Savoy and out of the Menier. So, it will be, in effect, a new production which no one has seen yet.

Thanks ggersten but I doubt they will add or subtract musical numbers though they could augment the orchestra for the larger auditorium.

At the Menier the song list was:

Many thanks Imeldasturn! Were the arrangements the same as the original? How big was the orchestra?  Sorry so may questions but I love all that stuff! X

I haven't seen it so I can't say! But generally menier uses an orchestra of more or less 12 musicians

I can only share my opinion which is that this is a reinterpretation of FG. Sheridan bring loads of humour and emotion to the role but absolutely no grit which for me spoiled the performance. I laughed and (almost) cried but I missed the fight! Don't Rain On My Parade was thrown away with the smiles and jaunty movements (I'll March my band out!). This is a woman telling the world to get out of her way and with the cheery delivery I felt that was lost.

 

The base material isn't great despite me adoring the score and I just felt that this production showed up the weaknesses. Some of the costume and wig choices for Fanny were terrible (especially for the People scene) but this is minor compared to the lack of guts which I think took Fanny Brice to the top. 

 

Im still waiting to see the Funny GIrl of my dreams. X
