I'm hoping after the enormous success of Carousel, South Pacific, and King & I, that LCT continues its landmark revivals of R&H shows with Bartlett Asher at the helm! Thinking ahead to future productions, I would kill to see whatSher and his team could do with State Fair (96)- a musical that is in dire need of an overhaul- but I think could enjoy a decent run... Also it's about time for another Sound of Music revival (9LCT's next Rodgers & Hammerstein Revival?, and eventually Oklahoma!(00)... Thoughts?

While I'd love a revival of The Sound of Music, I'd also really like to see what LCT (and hopefully Barlett Sher) would do with Oklahoma!

I'd like to see LCT do Carousel but just bring the chicago production over. Sher doesn't need to be apart of it, the production was already great. And I never want to have to sit through another Sound of Music production. Or Oklahoma.

I think the Chicago production of carousel needs a lot of work. I'd like to see sher take on carousel with the same lyric cast.

I second a revival of Oklahoma. Possibly in the spirit of the 1998 revival. Bartlett would be great directing it. Another show that would be great is Oliver. It has not been on Broadway since the '80s and I think a nice gritty version would do well. Plus, the Vivian Beaumont would be a great venue.

Personally, I'm hoping for The Most Happy Fella.  A beautiful show worthy of a lush full-scale revival.

STATE FAIR is soooo overdue!!! The film won an Oscar, and in the right hands is every bit as good as the other "5"... If anyone could do it justice it's Bartlett Sher!!!

I vote for Pipe Dream.

(Seriously though, I know it's not R&H but The Most Happy Fella would be great.)

I'd personally be interested in seeing Bartlett Sher & Lincoln Center Theater take on 1776, A Little Night Music, Ragtime, and/or The Secret Garden.

I want to see a LCT ALLEGRO. I hadn't thought of them doing MOST HAPPY FELLA, but remember that they were involved with the 2-piano production way back when. Perhaps they feel it's a case of "been there done that." (Though I adore the show very, very much.)

I'll second NIGHT MUSIC. I'd also love to see them do MY FAIR LADY, though I don't know if Sher's the right director for it. Mike Nichols would have been.

Sorry to say, the notion of a stripped-down bare-stage MY FAIR LADY would fill me with dread and loathing.

I'd much rather see their take on BRIGADOON. It's been decades and decades since NY had a good production.

I'd also love to see them do MY FAIR LADY, though I don't know if Sher's the right director for it.

It reported a couple years ago that Sher was set to direct a revival that Clive Davis was gonna produce. I don't know if that is still going on.

For brigadoon they should use the goodman theatres production.

That's definitely something to consider. I just saw another Sher/Yeargan production (The Barber of Seville) the other day. With that in mind, I'd vote for The Secret Garden because I could see a sparse set brought to life at key moments when they were in the garden as they did with The Barber of Seville. No The King and I hanging flowers though. Those were like the things you hang up when you can't afford a door.

Even though a flood of people will harp on the fact that she's "too old", I'd kill to see a Kelli O'Hara led Sound of Music @ LCT with Bartlett Sher directing this... But I'd happily settle for an O'Hara led My Fair Lady...

Please keep in mind that Mary Martin was only 46 years old when she originated the role of Maria in the original production of The Sound of Music, so Kelli wouldn't be to far off (though I think she'd make a great Mother Abbess too).

If we can extend the thread's intent further into the family lineage and Adam Guettel, I really need someone to do Floyd Collins. I'd kill to hear Pasquale sing that part.

LCT was a producer, but it was actually a Goodspeed production.  Scaled down, two pianos and over 20 years ago.  A Beaumont production with a full orchestra would sort of be the opposite of "been there done that".

The Goodman production of Brigadoon should be on Broadway, though I don't see it for LCT, unless it were a co-production at a smaller house.  Though Light in the Piazza worked out for them, so maybe.

Kelli O'hara in a Golden age musical playing the ingenue role led by Bartlett Sher?! What inspired casting!

CAROUSEL would make the most sense given their history with the 1994 revival.

And I am on the THE MOST HAPPY FELLA bandwagon. I really thought they'd transfer the well received Encores! production with genius Laura Benanti.

With respect to a stripped down version of My Fair Lady, Amanda Dehnert's production at Oregon Shakespeare was brilliant.

I'd love to see Carousel again as the score is near perfect and in the right hands the show inspires so many relevant and important conversations.

Carousel, Allegro, or from a different composing team, Brigadoon. I think Bartlett Sher and his team could do wonders for all three of these musicals. Though I would love to see The Most Happy Fella being done by Sher as well.
