I so enjoyed her work in THE PAJAMA GAME and HAIR but she seems to have fallen completely off the radar in the last five years.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
Thank you for this thread, somethingwicked. I was recently listening to an audio of the City Center production of DAMN YANKEES and remembered she was so fun as Gloria when I saw her and was wondering the same thing (curiously enough, why is Vicki Lawrence, whose Gloria on the 1994 album is thrilling, not in a show every season?). I missed her in THE PAJAMA GAME but thought she was perfection in HAIR, I got to see her multiple times in that show and she was simply terrific each time. She made such a big splash in THE PAJAMA GAME, I figured she'd be getting cast in musicals left and right. Wouldn't' she be great as the title role in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE?
