I'm not familiar with new musicals that originate on West End. Usually I just hear about Broadway productions transferring. Could you recommend a specific show in the last few years that is originally a West End show for me to check out?

You mean that is now on Broadway?

Well, King Charles III started on the fringe, then the West End, then Broadway.  Curious Incident started at National Theatre, then West End, then Broadway.  But, those aren't musicals.  And several other West End plays have been on Broadway in recent years.

New West End musicals haven't had great success there hence no transfer - From Here to Eternity, Stephen Ward, Made in Dagenham, The Committments, I Can't Sing.  I don't think Sunny Afternoon will transfer.  The Bodyguard likely will make it to Broadway once the Headley option expires.  It's not clear how Bend It Like Beckham is doing (because the West End doesn't publish grosses so it's basically message board information), but it doesn't sound like a show that might transfer.

The most recent West End musicals now on Broadway are Matilda and Phantom.
