"Riverdance" and "Lord Of The Dance" are two very different shows.
This current incarnation is great if you're into that kind of thing, but ticket-buyers should probably be aware that Michael Flatley only appears for (literally) about five minutes at the very end of the show. I know it says that in the article, but I still think a lot of people will be spending the whole show wondering when he's going to show up. Always read the fine print!

I'm not really interested in this show, BUT what is interesting:
With the possibility of Shuffle Along being eligible under Revival, and the elimination of the "special event" category a few years ago, Lord of the Dance will likely be eligible under Best Musical. It obviously has a snowballs chance in hell of showing up as a nominee, though it could make up for Shuffle Along's absence and provide enough eligible contenders for the tie rule to come into play so we have a possibility of a fifth Best Musical nominee this season.
Wouldn't it be eligible in the best revival category rather than best musical since it is a long existing property that has already played across most of the world? It may be revised, but I think this falls into a similar category as Little Shop and Hedwig. Neither of those shows had Broadway runs before the 2003 production of Little Shop and the 2014 production of Hedwig, but both were still considered revivals because of their age and production history.
I don't think the producers of Lord of the Dance will bother with inviting the Tony nominators, administration and voters for an eight week limited holiday run.
And in addition to Hamilton, we have Amazing Grace, Allegiance, On Your Feet, American Psycho, Bright Star, Waitress, School of Rock, Tuck Everlasting and (probably) Gotta Dance. So there are already enough new musicals announced or intended for this season to go to five nominees, if warranted.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.
"With the possibility of Shuffle Along being eligible under Revival..." I am not so convinced they'll be able to get that into revival. That subtitle gives me a lot of pause...and think it could for the Tony Committee as well (I mean it's sight unseen thus far...but something tells me that if One Man, Two Guvnors got turned down, so will this. There is the backstage story element and 'what followed'. It's NOT just a presentation of the ORIGINAL show...it's about how it was made and what came after. I think it's probably a new piece and that the committee will take that stance to the chagrin of the producers who don't want to go up against Hamilton.
@antv if you have no interest in seeing irish dancing, then its not worth seeing. the dancers dont sing... sometimes there are "vocalists" who perform songs the dancers dance too. but its all irish dance, all the time.
watch it online there are many taped versions of basically the same ****. haha
They should have a Celtic woman reunion show on Broadway. It will include all the songs they covered from the past and bring back former members. Just a thought.

According to someone I spoke with, the London production didn't have Flatley performing at all other than on video and all of the music and singing (and tapping) was prerecorded. No live musicians and singers lip-syncing. Sounds like fun to me...
I wish they would they would just an original holiday musical to bring to broadway and fill it with stars for the same amount of time this thing is suppose to be running for
