We are thrilled to announce that “Gigantic,” inspired by “Jack and the Beanstalk,” is coming to theatres in 2018! The film will be directed by Tangled's Nathan Greno and will feature music from Oscar-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez!
I'm disappointed. First, the title is awful. Second, it sounds cute and sounds cool in some elements, but I find it to be rather very immature from a company that nailed Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Snow White, & Snow Queen.
What we had before was so much nicer and Disney-esque:
Ouch. The new name was really unnecessary as GIANTS had a better ring to it. Disney's Giants rolls off the tongue far easier than Disney's Gigantic does.

Maybe try being a little.less pessimistic seeing as there is still a lot of time between now and the release date for changes to happen. I doubt every single Disney blockbuster was fully fleshed out in their early stages.
Disney only does its D23 Expo every other year. If they waited until the next one to talk about it, they'd be a mere year away from release. Not saying they should be pimping it now, but I can see that they're trying to get their money's worth out of this Expo.
I'm starting to warm up to the movie. I am still disappointed that they changed Imna from this great warrior to a giant that is a little kid....that plays dollie with Jack (The tea party scene does sound very funny/cute though) and that their version of J&B is not this epic that Disney does best, that Giants sounded like it was. But, it's very original and this is just like Giants with the awesome Storm Gods and stuff. And I am very excited to see the giant world. And that it is in Spain and they will explore that. Eh, there are more positives than negatives.
"I'm excited for this. There's very few Disney movies "designed" for boys so I'm very glad this one is happening."
Aladdin, The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Tarzan, Wreck It Ralph, Big Hero 6
I'm glad they're sticking with a female giant. I found Tangled to be immature/skew younger but I think that would actually work better for this story so I don't mind it as much.
Yeah, sorry I don't really think most little boys watch THE LION KING, HUNCHBACK, WRECK IT RALPH or BIG HERO 6 and think "I wanna be that!" like the little girls can watch pretty much any Disney flick and say "I wanna be that!"
So yeah, I'm glad there's another big animated film with a boy in the lead.
Now we are on topic, I listened to Something Rotten this morning and even though he's Italian, John Cariani would be perfect for Jack. He’s in his late 40s, but he sounds so young. And his voice is so nerdy, sweet and meek. Adam Jacobs would be a great choice with the Disney hero singing voice & experience, but again he's not Spanish. He's Filipino and Jewish. What would be great Spanish actors for Jack? They can definitely do an open call for Spanish girls for the role of Imna like Moana.
Well that's dissapointing. It was a cute concept and the art has a pretty style/feel to it. I can only hope this'll be explored sometime in the future, or they'll come up with something better.
