"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

It was pretty ridiculous and I remember I never made it through the full season in 1990, but there were a few good moments, the best being the last scene of the first episode. Kathleen Wihoite (Susan's sister on "ER") singing to her daughter that she is selling:
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
No. I'm inclined to think COP ROCK was more immediately influenced by the Dennis Potter miniseries' PENNIES FROM HEAVEN and THE SINGING DETECTIVE, which undeniably had an influence on CHICAGO.
In the treasure trove of tacky that was the late-80's/early 90's, COP ROCK may have been the ultimate.

I remember seeing that Sandman scene when I was 9 and finding it so traumatic (not cuz it was bad, just that I found it so sad.) A few years later, as a young teen, they reran the whole thing on Canadian cable (as part of a *coff* "Too Good for TV" series) and, yeah, it was pretty bad.
Right around the same time was the teen musical Hull High which seems to be completely forgotten. It was kind a mix of Rags to Riches (which as much younger kids everyone I knew seemed to think was amazing,) by using some old songs and also some great originals such as this one, which still gets stuck in my head:
I was saying the other day I can't believe no one's mounted this as a musical off-Bway.
That's the problem with off-Broadway today. They don't want to do anything fun. I remember back in the '90s an off-Broadway company did recreations of Brady Bunch episodes. (Jane Lynch played Carol Brady).

Thank you for reminding me of The Real Live Brady Bunch Gothampc! I went to see several of them in the Village back in the 90's. I actually saw Christine Taylor play "Marcia" in this before she was cast in The Brady Bunch Movie.

The 90s were the last time that off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway were thriving. They had so many good shows going and they had some crap, but you didn't mind the crap because it didn't cost so much.
