RAGTIME, of course, is a masterwork, but I'd throw THE MARCH in there as well. Also loved HOMER AND LANGLEY and LOON LAKE. I had a strange obsession with LOON LAKE a few summers ago-- read it two times in a row.

Billy Bathgate is a personal favorite of mine. I must have read that book at least a half dozen times.

I got around to reading Ragtime afterwards and it quickly became a favorite as well.

I loved his writing.

May he R.I.P.

THE WATERWORKS rarely got discussed in the same conversations as some of his better known masterworks but it was a strange and utterly fascinating read. R.I.P. to one of the greats.

Good article about his relationship with Drabinsky, and how Doctorow gave the rights to the musical.  They talked 4 days before he passed.

Got to see him at a reading a few years ago with my friend Karen. We got to chat with him for a couple of minutes. RIP.
