"A Broadway supernova is soaring over the United States! Tony and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner Idina Menzel will headline select stops on the If/Then national tour. The Frozen star will reprise her Tony-nominated performance as Elizabeth (Liz/Beth) for the Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Tempe and Costa Mesa stops. Additional casting for the tour will be announced at a later date. The tour will kick off on October 13 at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts."
I'm kind of mad that she's not doing the Chicago run. I hope she gets, an unlikely, extension.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

This is going to be quite a whirlwind for her going straight from her world tour to the If/Then tour. Agree that they really needed her star power to jumpstart the tour and this will certainly boost those sites. I'm curious to see who else will play Elizabeth on this tour now.
That's so exciting! I've been second guessing my decision to buy tickets to Seattle's Broadway Across America season. This definitely sweetens the pot.
This still begs the question of who's taking over when she's done? I agree, her doing the Chicago stop would be great (I live about 4 hours away), but without her, I might as well catch it in Cincinnati which is closer. Who knows, maybe sales will drop and she will do a couple more stops.
I also wish she were coming closer to the east coast, but her dedication to this piece is incredible. I can't think of many other stars of her caliber who would make a commitment like this on top of everything else she has going on.
"If you don't have season tickets to your theatre (If Idina is performing in it) it's going to get sold out so fast. "
I'll bet. A quick peek at Twitter revealed some people showing interest in buying tour tickets when they weren't before, so there's that.

There's that Ellen DeGeneres TV pilot thing, too. Kudos to Menzel for commitment, I'll say.
Hmmm. I was actually interested in seeing what someone else would do with the role, since I saw it in NY, but perhaps I will still pick up a ticket for the LA Run.
I bet she really will be making a killing off of this given that I'm sure she'll get a cut of the box office; she'll be the reason they'll sell out those colossal touring venues, which is great. Everyone wins.
This is exciting! Also hoping for an extension. Chicago would be great! Not expecting it but that would be delightful.
As far as the dates schedule I was wondering, aside from what Idina's schedule looks, is the west coast a harder sell for tours and us mid-westerners will see anything? Or are all tour stops pretty highly attended? Sorry, slightly OT.

Perhaps Menzel wants to stay close to the West coast for the TV show, Frozen 2 (though it might be too early for that)?
"Also according to twitter, hundreds of Fanzels have proclaimed their own deaths over this tour news. They're dropping like flies."
That is some dedication. I am floored by her devotion to this show and its success. Not only does she help to bring an original piece to Broadway, putting years into the creative process, she stays with it and allows for it to run for an entire year. And then, when she likely has every opportunity in the world right now (we all know what kinda year she's had), she decides to stand by this original musical and share it because she beleieves that deeply in it.
I don't know any other star of her caliber that would do something like this. It's incredibly moving and inspiring. Apologies for the rant but, to me, it's a genuinely amazing feat.

The money she's being paid should elevaiate your surprise.
