Just curious if anyone has been. I have tickets to a Wednesday show but I also have tickets to a matinee of Fun Home the same day. Would I still be able to make it or should I not risk it?
I've been to a taping many times, but never on Wednesday. If it is the morning taping (sometimes they do two tapings in one day for Friday depending on the season) you should easily get out between 12:00 and 12:30. If they have given you something free then getting out takes a little longer, but still out by 12:40. Then catch the subway 1 and you still have more than an hour before the 2 pm matinee. If for some reason it is going long, fake an illness and leave. At Seth Myers last year, I faked my contact lens coming out.
Been many a time, and now it's so much easier since they moved to Columbus Avenue from the West Side Highway. Even when they had to pre-record a segment after the live show last time I was there - Fred Savage and Danica McKellar!!! - we were out by 12:30pm. You can walk to the theatre with tons of time to spare if you wanted.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Thank you for all of your responses, guys! Sorry I wasn't able to comment back sooner, my computer stopped working for a few days but all is good now! :)
I actually haven't gone yet, I have tickets for the 29th. Glad I should be good to go! I'm excited. What time do people usually get there?
Also, a bit off topic, but I also have tickets for Kelly & Michael on the 30th... Any experiences with that one?
Unless they are both VIP (View and K&M) it is first come first serve. Just because you have a ticket, doesn't guarantee your entry. Even with a ticket, the earlier, the better. For The View, I would arrive no later than 8:30. (I personally would arrive earlier). For K&M no later than 7:00, if not earlier. Where you are in the line, does not guarantee how close you will be. If you got your tickets through 1iota, you go in after friends and family, VIP, and any others they deem more important. I have had better locations in the studio as a standby instead of a ticket holder. So no rhyme or reason to the process. Bring your camera. For these two shows you are allowed to take pictures.
BTW, it is good that The View taping is first. The experience, in my opinion, is overall better than K&M. They seem to appreciate their studio audience. You should be getting some free stuff. The only negative, to me, is unless you are close up, the picture taking can be bad. At K&M, producer Michael Gelman, never forgets to mention to the studio audience how lucky "we" are to be there and that the tickets were free. Everytime I hear him say it, it rubs me the wrong way. But Kelly and Michael are personable during commercial breaks.

Why? He's right, isn't he? Especially if you go so often, as seems to be the case.

I go once a year, when I visit. Yes they are free. The show gets the benefit from having a live audience. If the studio audience didn't enrich their show, they wouldn't go through the trouble of having one.
I'm excited to go on Wednesday. :) Thanks for all of your help, guys! I'll probably get there around 8 or so, I figured that should be plenty of time. Hoping to have some fun.
I'm thinking of releasing my tickets for Kelly & Michael. Between having to get there so early and the fact there aren't any good guests the day I'm going, I'm thinking it will be better for me to go another time.
Another random question, what is the easiest way to get there? I'm not good with subways at all :P and I'm staying at The Row. So what train would I catch to get there? Also, off topic but tomorrow I'm seeing Grounded, how would I go about getting there and coming back?
I stayed at The Row recently! I took a cab because I wanted to make sure I got there in time. Someone else may be better off helping you with the train info.
