While I haven't seen any of these yet, I would personally replace The Audience with Fun Home. I've been addicted to the recording and the raves it has been getting makes it a must see. Finally seeing it at the end of the month and I can't wait.
I was a little iffy about The Audience, since its not a musical, but I LOVE Helen Mirren, and figured that seeing her on stage may not be a possibility for me again.
How on earth can we help you, a stranger, figure out which shows will be best for you? Impossible.
For every show out there, new and old, there are folks that loved it and folks that hated it. You just need to make a decision and you can't worry about "the show not chosen".
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Of the shows on Broadway/Off-Broadway now, and that I have seen, here are the ones I think are the cream of the crop ... Hamilton, Curious Incident, Gentleman's Guide, Fun Home, Hedwig, and Something Rotten.
A second tier of shows to me would be Wolf Hall, Beautiful, Les Miz (if Ramin is on), Skylight, and Fashions for Men at the Mint Theatre. I have not seen the King and I yet but I have heard it is well done also.
I was a little disappointed with The Audience. Helen Mirren was excellent as an actress, but the play itself was not nearly as good as Curious Incident. I did not think it was as interesting, creative, or as smoothly executed as Curious Incident.
The Visit was a real disappointment to me as well. The overall idea of the musical is intriguing, but the book itself was poorly done, in my opinion. Roger Rees was a real disappointment for me. Of course Chita has the stage presence of a queen.
On the 20th Century is a solid choice, but please consider Curious Incident (if you have not seen it), Fun Home and the others listed above.
A weekend of Fun Home, Curious Incident, and on the 20th Century would be wonderful.
Thanks GreasedLightning, but in neonlight's defense, I edited the message and added Off-Broadway after his comment. I loved Hamilton so much, I definitely didn't think of it at the Public as Off-Broadway!
But Hamilton won't be playing anywhere on the dates the OP WILL be in the city.
