I was at the show last night and she wasn't in. But not only was she not in but there was no mention of her anywhere whatsoever. In the Playbill she has been removed and it says Glenne Headly will be regularly playing her. I curiously asked the box office attendant and he claimed "She's on a leave of absence." But I'm wondering if for some strange reason she's no longer in the show, and it hasn't been officially announced yet. Thoughts?
Glenne Headly is listed on the play's website, though she must have just taken over this week. Going by Rita Wilson's twitter page, it appears that she was performing as of this past weekend. Personally, I like Wilson, but I'd have rather seen Headley.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
Was wondering the same thing myself, break. I saw the matinee show yesterday, so I thought, well maybe she isn't doing the Weds matinees... but like you said, she wasn't listed anywhere in the Playbill. Curious indeed.
Oh yeah I didn't mind she was in, but I was just curious she was taken out of the playbill, not mentioned by anyone, and with no press announcement. Headly was good but overall the character was pretty 1-dimensional and there really wasn't much for her to do. She was OK though.
Someone PLEASE tell me how I can get in to see this show now. I had absolutely no interest before but this is a game changer. Seeing Glenne is now my #1 priority in LIFE!!
Wow, now I feel special that I saw Glenne. She was funny and brought what she could to the part, but just wasn't as funny as let's say Cheryl on Curb (you have to expect comparisons) because her character really just plays straight man to Larry and the rest of the really funny company. She does get a few laughs here and there though, and overall was enjoyable.
What she's going through is no fun. It happens. It happens again. We live in a world wherein we expect familial problem solving of any sort, particularly with addiction, even among the children of celebrities (or especially) to be a linear journey. It seldom is.

rib237, I did overall enjoy the show. I found act one to be slightly weak but still pretty funny, but I though act two was hysterical. The laughs were non-stop, and Larry David was hysterical. I laugh just looking at him and between the faces he makes and his physicality, he certainly didn't dissapoint. The rest of the cast was great too, and overall it was pretty, pretty good.
The stage door was a good time. Everyone came out and most didn't formally go down the line, but if someone requested someone they signed. Rosie Perez was signing some stuff, and all of a sudden the door bursted open and who comes out but Larry. It only took him about 12 minutes after the show ended. He did not pose for pictures last night but spent almost a good 10 minutes outside signing and talking and joking with everyone. A really funny and nice guy. Believe it or not, I didn't wait for him on purpose or anything before the show but I got there so early I was talking with the security guy outside the theatre who was very nice, and then all of a sudden he came by me. My mom said "Laaary" and in his joking voice he said "Huh-lo" and went in. Very funny stuff. I don't think the show will be as good with Jason Alexander but he will prkabably make it work since he's more of an actor than Larry.
Yes, she did. She was carrying flowers out I assume someone gave to her. No one asked her to sign anything, but everyone clapped when she came out and she told everyone thank you for coming as she was leaving. She seemed pretty nice, but if you want her to sign something (same goes for the rest of the cast) you must ask her because the only person that formally went down the line was Larry.
I just heard the news as well. I wish her all the best and hope for a very speedy recovery. And yes everyone - get yourself checked regularly.
It's a good reminder to not jump to conclusions as to what families are going through..educated guesses and blind items are not reliable sources for what someone is dealing with.
The same type of thing happened with Julie Andrews in V/V. People thought she was dogging it only to find out she had a real problem that took away her singing voice.
