I'm coming to NYC in a few weeks and my tickets for Honeymoon In Vegas have been cancelled for a Wednesday night. I need some advice for a replacement show that I can get tickets for fairly quickly. I already have tickets for On The Town and Kinky Boots. Have seen most of the longer running shows and have considered Aladdin, Finding Neverland and Hamilton but they all might be difficult to get tickets for. Thoughts? I'm bringing my 60 year old mother so wanted to keep the choices light and fun and not too difficult to follow. Any thoughts, help or friendly advice would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I am out of the country until Saturday with limited internet access so getting tickets before I get home might be impossible. Thanks in advance!!
Something Rotten, it's perhaps the lightest and most fun mucial I've been to in years! But Finding Neverland was amazing as well but not as light. I liked Aladdin a lot, but in the end the choice will have to be up to you!

Here's my advice. Don't assume someone 60 years old is far too old to follow a complex story line or wouldn't be into an edgy story.
I have not seen Gigi, Dr. Zhivago, or The King and I yet, so I cannot comment on those. But based on your criteria, and only including new musicals (that seems to be what you want) some good bets would be:
Finding Neverland - better than I expected
Something Rotten - very cute and funny
On The 20th Century

Hamilton is awesome but unless you already have tickets or an extra $2000-3000.00 for 2 tickets you won't be able to go in April.
It Shoulda Been You was ok, not the best, but it is very funny and it fits what you describe you are looking for, also, tickets would be easy to find.
An American In Paris, it was better than I expected but I would pick one of the others listed above before this. Its style is also similar to On The Town and you are already seeing that.
Aladdin was ok .... I love Disney in general but if I was going with my mom I would pick something else from the list above before Aladdin.
I would not recommend The Visit (I was disappointed with it) or Fun Home based on your comments, although Fun Home is excellent.
On the Twentieth Century (I saw first in Feb, I have tix to see again in May) and Something Rotten (I haven't seen yet but I've read good things about it!)
If your mother is already a big R&H fan (you can usually tell by checking to see if there are moldy 33 1/3 OBC albums stacked somewhere in the basement), then she will love this production of a classic from her era. You would be doing her a disservice by not taking her to this production.
If she is not an R&H nut then On The 20th Century, book by Comden/Green, is fun if not classic and was given good to great ratings by all.
