I am going to see It's Only A Play for the second time because Nathan Lane is returning. Saw it first in September. Do you think it is worth it to see it again? I am nervous I wont find it as funny and I spent a lot of money on the tickets.
I would go see Martin Short, if you've already seen Nathan, if you have the chance to exchange dates. Even once Nathan returns, Katie Finneran and the guy from The Office are both worth seeing.
Why are you asking this question after you already bought the tickets? I don't think anyone here can answer if you will find it as funny a second time.
"I hope your Fanny is bigger than my Peter."
Mary Martin to Ezio Pinza opening night of Fanny.
I saw IT'S ONLY A PLAY the other night and enjoyed myself, mainly. Lane is in fine form, landing every single laugh, the rest of the cast, with one exception, rises to his level.
But I just have to ask: what's up with Matthew Broderick? Is there some secret that isn't being shared about some traumatic brain injury that he suffered?
"If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about the answers." Thomas Pynchon, GRAVITY'S RAINBOW
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." Philip K. Dick

I have never laughed so much at a show. The tears were like a faucet and my stomach actually hurt from laughing. The cast is impeccable and Nathan is a GOD. His timing and delivery are perfect. Matthew was hysterical and perfect in the part. Everyone else was a 10. TR Knight was flawless on his opening night. The 2 women next to me started talking as soon as the curtain rose! but stopped after I told them to shut the **** up. They didn't laugh once during the show and they were American tourists. My favorite play of the season aside from Rocket To The Moon.
