"Marina Kamen aka MARINA"

Roy, did you guys consider how much more memorable this would all be if her AKA was a little less obvious, maybe something like "Conchita Pandello" or "Rochelle Honeysuckle"?

For what were you nominated for a Grammy?

Is this Abramovic's new piece?

No it is not.
This is Marina Kamen, originally a musical theater performer in the 80's - 90's who lost 100 pounds in the mid 90's before it was "in style".

Marina was nominated for her dance hit "Dream Lover" the first year "Dance" was a category in the Grammy's..
Some of you may remember the NARAS Parties at Webster Hall in the late 90's that we produced and Marina Hosted and performed in.

She wrote, produced and performed a catalog of over 400 songs that helped keep her motivated during her weight loss journey. The catalog was then licensed by the fitness community as well as Muzak for health clubs. She went on to develop musical guided audio workouts which won her the first People's Choice Podcast Award in the Health and Fitness Category.

Infomercial companies contract Marina to cast overweight people for weightless & fitness infomercials. She then manages the group (30-40) and gets weight off of them and grooms them for the on camera interviews. So yes, all those late night infomercials where you see "before & After" pictures? Its all true. She follows the programs supplied and adds her special mix of motivation to get those results.

Marina brought the "club" look into fitness years ago and now is in workshop on High-nrg Fitness "LIVE!". a 45 minute workout show with various artists performing during the workout using all of her own music designed for the particular workouts she performs. Quite original.

"Marina was nominated for her dance hit "Dream Lover" the first year "Dance" was a category in the Grammy's.."

Roy, please correct me if I am wrong but I believe the Dance category was introduced at the 1998 Grammy's. These were the nominees that year with Carry On winning.

Best Dance Recording
-Da Funk - Daft Punk
-Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit - Gina G
-To Step Aside - Pet Shop Boys
-Space Jam - Quad City DJ's
-Carry On - Donna Summer & Giorgio Moroder

Perhaps I have the wrong category or wrong year or one of those listed nominees was included in error and MARINA inadvertently left off? Can you help me sort this out?

The only place Marina Kamen's Grammy nomination seems to be mentioned is this thread and on a YouTube description, at least according to Google.

Who cares? Have fun!

I remember this. She was such a trailblazer. In the 90s everyone was fat and no one had ever considered losing weight before.

What an idiotic thing to put in a press release.

I hereby nominate Tazber and JerseyGirl2 for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Even if you don't make it to the finalists lists, from henceforth feel free to call yourselves "Nobel Peace Prize nominee JerseyGirl2" and "Nobel Peace Prize nominee Tazber." At least on social media.

And go ahead and lose that 90 pounds while you're at it.

Big dance hit!

I feel I must draw your attention to one of my favorite parts of that website (and I use the term loosely):

"For more information contact: press (at) kamen (dot) com"

I mean I know the internet is still really new and novel....

Hey, don't make fun of these people. After all, "Richard Simmons tried to do what Marina does but couldn't cut it." Indeed. Crestfallen by his failure to measure up to MARINA, Simmons was forced to settle for selling $200 million in "Sweatin' To The Oldies" tapes.

Marina is zero.  Nothing.  No nomination.  No success.  All talk and all of it from her own web site(s) and self generated releases.  A true bottom feeder.  Everyone knows it. How can this even be a subject?  A true nothing talking about a totally phony Grammy nomination with nothing else of note having happened in all these years and years. The awards, the success, the hype is so small, so self generated, so phony, so absurd...  I mean you can look up Grammy nominations for every year in every category and she isn't there.  Never was.  Not in 1997. 1998, 1999 or any year.  What a stupid thing to say.  Who are you fooling.  Finalist?  What is that?  It is a category that exist in your own mind! Come on!  Clean up your act!
