Might as well had something to do with the fact that the new production of Miss Saigon opened almost a year ago...
Here's hoping that if Eva Noblezada ends up coming with Miss Saigon to Broadway, she won't be snubbed for a Tony nomination ether!

Since I have not seen Ms. Noblezada yet, I'm just wondering if perhaps, as mentioned above, while she has a nice voice, her acting is not up to snuff. The award is for acting, not singing.
I'm hoping Dame Angela Lansbury wins (is this perhaps one of the only awards she has yet to win?).
Eve does 6 performances a week - not 4. And she was very good - but she didn't get the reviews that Knight and Atherton got- and perhaps there was a bit of nativism as well. I think Nobelazada was hampered in her performance by Brammer's Chris. He was OK in his acting (although quite good in the looks department) and that reduces Nobelzada's performance. And indeed Miss Saigon didn't get as many nominations as Cameron Mackintosh would have hoped for - JonJon Briones got his well-deserved. But that was the only acting nomination. No nominations for lighting (which was exceptional!) or set design or costumes.
Nice and welcome surprise for The Play That Goes Wrong!
Speaking of Olivier award nominations - are they always individually sponsored? Like the "Virgin Atlantic Best New Play"? Interesting way to raise funds I guess
No, Eva was absolutely deserving and if I were a voter I'd have picked her to win. I cannot for the life of me figure out how Gemma Arterton got nominated for what I thought was an awful show, except of course because she's famous. I also think that's what happened with Tamsin. As with all award shows, people like to recognize people they know and like even if the performance isn't the most worthy. I can't believe the Urinetown and City of Angels snubs either. Ugh.
Yeah the only acting nominations Miss Saigon deserved was the Jon Jon one, Eva was a decent Kim but it wasnt anything exceptional on the acting front. Its such an over blown show anyway, and Kims all about big over the top emotions, Jon Jon however does something special with lots of nuances that raisethe level of the material
I am a bit surprised City Of Angels was left out of the acting nominations
Maybe it also suffered by being somewhat of an un-credited re-hash of other people's work; at least Cats acknowledged the work of the creatives who built it. Miss Saigon is so close to the original staging it's hard to imagine most departments not having a "recreated by tag". Eva may be collateral damage to that.
I'm sad for City of Angels which was blissful.
Nicole Scherzinger's nom is just- excuse the language- a star f*ck.
I'm more surprised about Miss Saigon not getting nominated for lighting than for Eva's "snub." Eva was an amazing Kim but was in many ways a copy of Lea's version. Jon Jon made the role his own. I've only seen Eva in the role but from many accounts, Tanya is a better Kim as well.

But how is the CATS revival not the same thing? It's a boring re-hash of the original show.
Countdown til Jordan comes on raging about how much loves me! 3..2..1...
She went to the same HS (Northwest School Of The Arts - Charlotte NC) as my daughters and it would have been very neat for the school if she had been nominated - oh well.
It's no different to the Cats situation, which is why they are both up for best revival and one acting nomination each and that's it. I'd be amazed if city of angels doesn't win revival
Only one nomination for porgy and bess as well. They had a lot of great stuff this season! It was pretty competitive with shows like dirty rotten scoundrels, city of angels, porgy and bess, beautiful, cats, miss saigon, Memphis, assassins, urinetown, and women on the verge
