GingerBreadMan..."Chicago" is fine. This show has been at the rodeo before. It has weathered many lows in previous winters. Winter is hard on new and also long running shows (see Phantom). As someone else mentioned, Springtime is just around the corner, so grosses should pick up for many shows. I'm hopeful that casting decisions will continue to help the show and cultivate more fans in the theatre.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Obviously it's not great but it sounds a lot worse than it actually is. The week before was a holiday week with holiday performances and the attendance was way up...
So it was just a naturally leveling off from the previous week's high along with the miserable freezing temperatures. I don't know how eager I would be to drag my kid out on a school night when it's so cold out..when I could probably just wait a few week until spring.
Patti, I realize that it is winter and the grosses do tend to suffer in this time of year, but looking back at grosses during peak summer months last year, the grosses still rarely went above 50-60%. I also realize that this show has recouped, and does not need to pay back investors any more, but I still wonder how far above their weekly nut they are grossing. If anyone knows and would care to share the weekly nut, I would be interested to hear it.
Fish, Audience, Mormon the only shows at 100% All others have really dropped in attendance...winter blues on Broadway! Poor Honeymoon and OTT! Spring's coming and tons of new shows starting previews this month.

Car-crash figures for H(m)IV. This may be lamb dressed as mutton, but its time to shut the shop. It always amazes why theatres willingly provide this self-flagellating data, but it is to be applauded.
Why don't you go? Why don't you leave Manderley? He doesn't need you... he's got his memories. He doesn't love you, he wants to be alone again with her. You've nothing to stay for. You've nothing to live for really, have you?
In terms of GGTLAM recouping, you have to keep in mind that their run started off rather weak in terms of ticket sales, so it's actually not all that surprising that they haven't recouped yet.

The London theatre boards bemoan the lack of the transparency of sales data. There is one source which tries to estimate "unsold" tickets - but that is a measure that doesn't really measure profitability.
Which raises this question from me - some shows will report ticket sales of 80-90%, but percentage of gross potential will be 50-60%. Is that mainly due to lack of sales of "premium" tickets at "premium" prices?
Please correct me if I am wrong... But "Potential Gross" is based on selling every ticket at full price. If a seat is sold at TKTS it is discounted. So the seats are sold but a part of the "potential" is gone. And is premium counted as over and above potential?
"In terms of GGTLAM recouping, you have to keep in mind that their run started off rather weak in terms of ticket sales, so it's actually not all that surprising that they haven't recouped yet. "
I am fully aware. I didn't say it was surprising they haven't recouped, I said their numbers from last week were surprising.
ggersten, are you misreading the data? Are you talking about 80-90% capacity? That's very different from the amount of money they made.
