Amazon's price is never set until about a week before it comes out. They have a pre order policy that you will get the lowest price that it deflates to between now and the release date.
I think Roxy was suggesting that if it hadn't been recorded yet it would have been cancelled. Is that really true? I'm not sure about that. Flops release recordings all the time. It seems that the money is often set-aside or raised no matter what (probably because it's the only thing of the show that will survive in the future).
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
If I hadn't been logged on to BroadwayWorld.com via my iPad and hit reply message and typed this all out on the keyboard and the pressed "Post Message" this message would not have been posted onto this thread and you wouldn't be reading it right now.
That is of course, if you don't already have me blocked then you wouldn't be able to see it at all. Except of course if you chose to reply and you scrolled down then you would be able to see my reply. That is, if you actually looked and chose to read it.
Then again, you may not have me blocked and just chose to ignore the post anyway, because you generally don't read anything that I post.
But it still would exist regardless of whether you chose to read it or not...only you wouldn't know that because, y'know you chose not to read it.
