But are you asking because you want to see it or because you wonder if you will be made missing something great?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I was expecting so much from this show, due the numerous rave reviews and the many favorable posts. So, perhaps due in part to those expectations, I was greatly disappointed. I thought that the show played a bit cartoonish for my taste. But I am in a small minority.

I just think the show in itself is very outdated. The jokes really aren't funny except when Jackie Hoffman is onstage. The choreo is amazing. They did the best job they could with it but it fell flat for me.
It's a wonderful production of a flawed and dated musical. But you will never see another production of it as terrific. NOt one of my favorites of the year but certainly enjoyable.
I'm with Pal Joey... it's delightful. If you want a deep story, go elsewhere. If you want pure joy of sound and sight...there's no comparison. I highly recommend it.
Highly entertaining as it has everything one looks for in a musical and these days it's rare to have a 30 piece orchestra...just listening to the rich score enhances the production but unfortunately the producers put it in one of the largest theaters on Broadway and the grosses have not been good so I suggest seeing now before thinking about seeing it a later time that being after the new year because it may be unfortunately gone if not by the end of January.

This show is a classic. It may not be a feast for those who aren't hot and heavy with "dated" musicals, but for those who are, I would think it would be great. My friend and I were in NY in July and were sorry we were missing it. For me, I love contemporary-themed works such as Rent and Next to Normal (e.g.), but I also can appreciate the classics too, even if they are "dated." I saw the revival of Anything Goes with Rachel York here in L.A. at the Ahmanson, and granted the jokes were corny, and it was amusing to see what was considered risqué back then, but it was awesome. Contemporary….classics….I'll give it all a try.
