Interesting. It's always good to see a film musical but I always find myself comparing them to the stage versions that I've isually seen first and of course they are two totally different formats (well apart from The Producers where the film was virtually a carbon copy of the stage show). The stage version of Into The Woods is very funny in parts so it'll be interesrinf to see how much of that transfers into the film version.

I hope people realise it is a musical. I remember seeing Sweeney Todd film several years ago and overheard a woman in the cinema staying, "Do they really need all this singing?".

I think Meryl Streep would have made a good Mrs Lovett.

I agree with you about Meryl Streep and Sweeney. There was plenty wrong with that film. The trailer for that didn't contain any singing at all. Similar to Nine and more or less, Dreamgirls. It's like musicals are Hollywood's shoddy little secrets that they are ashamed of.
