Help! My tenants think I was having sex with my dog!

I own a two-flat and rent the rear apartment to a lovely couple. One morning as I stooped to tie my shoe before taking my dog for his morning run, I was surprised by them and ever since then they have acted strangely toward me. Now I learn it is because they suspected they had caught me in a compromising position with my dog. This has made me seriously question if I can (or want to) continue to rent to them.

I wonder why they would ever think such a thing. What deep-seated desire do they have that they would jump to a conclusion like that? Can I trust them with my dog? Do they really think I am the type of person who would commit such an act- and outside, in my back yard, where anyone could see? Do they think I am that perverted and or stupid?

Can I terminate their lease for this?
