Yikes, anyone who wants to see this show, you better circle the public on-sale date on your calendar, because on day one of member presales today, most of the Hamilton houses I saw were half gone already. The Public didn't seem to be holding any seats/tickets back on other shows, where I had a great choice of seats, so it looks like interest in Hamilton is very high, which is to be expected...

And if you are a member, you better get in there and lock in!

Yeah, I knew this was going to be crazy, it looks amazing. It's also not going to be there for very long. When do tickets go on sale to the general public?

Thanks, hate, I just bought a ticket! It isn't a long run at all. I'm surprised. Lin-Manuel, better finish writing it!

Member ticket - $50
Member discount - $72.25
Member full - $85 (same as public, just without fees)

If you have a single membership, I think you are only allowed one member ticket per show, and one member discount ticket per show. After that, you can only get full priced tickets with no fees.

Does the public set aside rush seats at all? I've never seen a show there, but I'm dying to see this one.

General Student Tickets

Heh, I don't work for the Public. Really.

Subject to availability = they do not hold tickets for rush. I tried to rush Here Lives Love in its original run at the Public and it was sold out so I couldn't. Aka don't count on it.

I think for Fun Home they did set aside tickets for rush. At least, that's my recollection from having rushed it several times. As general advice, I would say to go early in the run for rush and don't wait until the last minute.

Plus, subscribers can cancel tickets and go later in the run if they want, so similar to Roundabout, availability is always in flux.

Bought my ticket this morning. I can't imagine Joe Papp would be thrilled by the $102 cost, though.

growl-that's what I was afraid of. Much as I loved Bloody Bloody I don't like carbon copies and this has the makings of one.

I should snag my member tix I suppose. Sigh.

I'll take your member ticket. I'll trade you for my Into the Woods at Roundabout. Or we can trade for my 20th Century ticket. Because I know how much you love KC

Different cast. Different composer. Different president. Yeah, will be complete deja vu, I'm sure...

I think it sounds a lot like Bloody Bloody. It's an iconoclastic look at a famous historical figure. I will see it since I like to at least give things a chance (I didn't like In the Heights much after the first go round but maybe this will change my mind). Also, if I can see it for less I ought to take advantage.

It doesn't sound like it's worth the $50 for you, if you hate the idea and the performer... and you waited until the member pre-sale ended and now your seat will be toward the back of the house.

haterobics-I don't give a damn where I sit. I just want to say I saw it so I can have an informed opinion.

I'm not sure how "anachronistic look at American historical figure" = "carbon copy of Bloody Bloody."

I have heard extremely positive things from folks that have attended presentations of the show over the last several years.

That's nice. I'll either take my chances and rush an early preview or use one of my member tix. Not really into this type of music (or Stew-I won't be renewing-I can rush early in previews and am willing to take that chance. This season isn't as inviting as last for me at least. And I'd let it go the year before-it seems like every other year I drop it and then bring it back. Ah well. That's how it goes. There are other off-Broadway theaters I'm thinking of joining in lieu of the Public).

But I'll make every effort to see Hamilton so I can of course have an informed opinion (I've been wrong before-was dragged into Fela! and ended up loving it).

"Bought my ticket this morning. I can't imagine Joe Papp would be thrilled by the $102 cost, though."

Why not just pay $110 for membership ($60) plus a Hamilton ticket ($50)? Then you get to see any additional show at a discount, as well, with no additional fees. They certainly make membership attractive when seeing two shows is all you need to benefit from it...

I was a member at the Public a few years back and didn't really see the benefit in it. Not too enthused by the rest of their season anyway.
