I was trying to think of the worst possible casting that the TV executives could could come up with and I thought: Taylor Swift and Kanye West....live. I laughed. Then I stopped laughing when I realized that someone at the networks is likely to pitch that idea.

Nobody will. There would be huge uproar because of the huge public support for Seth.

"Kanye West....live."

Hm....an angry, obnoxious, short, Kardashian f*cker, with an egregious ego who actually thinks he's a god?

Yeah no.

Harold: Hugh Jackman, Santino Fontana, or Nathan Fillion

Marion: Laura Osnes, Anna Kendrick, or Kelli O'Hara

I hope that it's better than the awful 2003 version, good grief Broderick, why do you suck the energy and charisma out.

I think he is a little restrained in this, but maybe because it's in England and a formal setting . I think he could be great. Certainly better than Matthew Broderick who was just awful last time around on TV.

I was wondering why they cast Matthew Broderick in "Nice Work."
Because of his triumph in The Music Man?

My favorite part of the Disney Broderick DVD is the bonus performance of "Till There Was You" by Kristin Chenoweth. She never looked or sounded better.

I wonder where "Till There Was You" ranks in the world of all Broadway musical songs? Seems like something every female vocalist records. Even the Beatles covered it (probably a Paul McCartney selection, I would guess).

This could well be filed under a heaven or hell Harold Hill but I'm intrigued by the possibility of Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

As to those who are saying they could never cast Laura Osnes because she's hardly known, it might well be pointed out that Kristin Chenoweth was hardly known when she starred in the last tv Music Man.

Usher is Harold Hill.
Justin Timberlake is Marcellus Washburn.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I will not watch Grease Contest Sandy in anything ever.

Considering Christopher Walken and Allison Williams were never even MENTIONED in our predictions for Peter Pan, I'm just gonna sit out of this guessing game and be just as shocked as everyone else when they finally announce the cast.

I'd imagine the network might consider an enormously popular, multi-talent who's already in their stable - Jimmy Fallon.

I wish they would get someone else to direct and choreograph like Kathleen Marshall. Marshall did do the last TV production, perhaps they would bring her back.

Seth would be a great Harold Hill, but as long as he's signed to Fox and Music Man is on NBC, I strongly doubt it's doable. However, I would love to see him in multiple roles in the Fox "Grease" production- putting him in as the Teen Angel, Vince Fontaine and a few other bit parts could bring a star name to the show and free up a few of the lead slots for less household named Broadway and TV stars.

I would love to see Susan Stroman direct and choreograph this. Her work on the revival was the best part about it.

Josh Gad would make a wonderful Marcellus, which is ironic considering that Buddy Hackett played an animated sidekick in a Disney film long after he played Marcellus in the 1962 film.

If it's NBC, one can assume Christian Borle as Mayor Shinn or Marcellus- his contract as their main musical character actor keeps being renewed, and TV audiences seem to respond well to him.

It took me a moment, but I have to say: Timberlake is actually a stunningly good idea. He's a decent actor, and he has charisma. And he's a true showman. He's played to full stadiums. I get tired of watching these guys who are earnest but who can't sell themselves as song and dance men (Robert Sean Leonard was the nadir, a perfectly adequate but absolutely unnecessary performance.) Timberlake is the outside-the-box thinking needed for the role.

Seth's Sadder But Wiser turned my head. Voice would fit fine. Is he too sincere to play a huckster to semi-literate, turn-of-the-century small town folk?

Laura Osnes may not be a big name yet, but her meteoric rise in New York has shown that it takes about five minutes of exposure to put all the males within range under her spell.

^And I'm betting more than anything that Laura Osnes will voice a Disney Princess in the nearest future. If they took Santino for a Disney Prince, there's no way that they won't take Laura, who was nominated for a Tony for a major princess role. Angelina in Giants/Jack and the Beanstalk, perhaps? (I'm guessing they're looking for a woman of color for Moana.)
