I'm sorry if there is already a thread for this. I used the search feature and went back a few pages, and nothing showed up. What are your top three favorite songs from this season? My top three are "Learn to Live Without" - IF/THEN "Starting Over" - IF/THEN and "Raining" - ROCKY
"Life in theater is give and take...but you need to be ready to give more then you take..."
"Always Starting Over" from IF/THEN "Hey, Kid" from IF/THEN "Here I Go" from IF/THEN "One Second and a Million Miles" from BRIDGES "Almost Real" from BRIDGES "It All Fades Away" from BRIDGES "Always Better" from BRIDGES "I've Decided To Marry You" from GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE "Why Are All The D'Ysquiths Dying?" from GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE
This is hard... So many great songs. The most memorable though are... - "Another Life" (Bridges) - "Look at Me Now (Bridges) - "Falling Into You" (Bridges) - "Before and After You"/"One Second and a Million Miles Away" (Bridges) - "It All Fades Away" (Bridges) - "Always Better" (Bridges) - "Here I Go" (If/Then) - "Learn to Love Without" (If/Then) - "Starting Over" (If/Then) - "Raining" (Rocky) - "Eye of the Tiger" (Rocky) - "Happiness" (Rocky)
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
Seeing as I'm pretty much only going from cast albums, I'd say "One Second and a Million Miles" is the best I've heard yet. That could change after I hear If/Then and the full Rocky recording.
Only going off the shows I've seen, and only original songs (sorry A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, "Eye of the Tiger" and much of BEAUTIFUL with one exception:)
"1650 Broadway Medley" from BEAUTIFUL "Almost Real" "One Second and a Million Miles" and "It All Fades Away" from BRIDGES "I've Decided to Marry You" from GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE "Raining" and "Fight From the Heart" from ROCKY
BONUS: Zachary Levi's performance of "In Love with You" from FIRST DATE, which elevated a meh song to a showstopper.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
Anything from "Bridges," although I have a soft spot for "Another Life" -- the best song Joni Mitchell never wrote -- and "It All Fades Away." The "Rocky" score is wan, at best, and I haven't yet heard "If/Then" and the new "Aladdin" material. And as much as I love "Gentleman's Guide," nothing tops what JRB has given us this season.
"One Second and a Million Miles"- Bridges "Always Better"- Bridges "It All Fades Away"- Bridges "You Don't Need to Love Me"- If/Then "Learn to Live Without"- If/Then "Raining"- Rocky "Keep on Standing"- Rocky "Why Are All the D'Ysquiths Dying?"- Gentleman's Guide "I've Decided to Marry You"- Gentleman's Guide "Better with a Man"- Gentleman's Guide "Fight the Dragons"- Big Fish "I Don't Need a Roof"- Big Fish
Haven't seen Rocky or Bridges yet - so a little skewed
But I love Slay the Dragons and Be the Hero from Big Fish Always Starting Over from If/Then In Love with You (because of Zac Levi's performance) in First Date
Extra Cheat-anything from Beautiful because I am a fan of King, Mann and Weil
If I say the banana song from Bullets will I be killed???? JK
- "One Second and a Million Miles Away", "Another Life", "Who We Are and Who We Want To Be", "It All Fades Away", "Falling Into You" from Bridges (pretty much the whole Bridges OBR) - "Learn To Live Without" and "Here I Go" from If/Then - "Be The Hero" from Big Fish - "Why Are All the D'Ysquiths Dying?" from A Gentleman's Guide
"Mr Sondheim, look: I made a hat, where there never was a hat, it's a Latin hat at that!"
"One Second and a Million Miles Away" - Bridges "It All Fades Away" - Bridges "Learn to Live Without" - If/Then "I Don't Need A Roof" - Big Fish "Always Better" - Bridges
"Learn to Live With Without" If/Then "You Don't Need To Love Me" If/Then "Hey Kid" If/Then "To Build a Home" The Bridges of Madison County "Almost Real" The Bridges of Madison County "One Second and a Million Miles" The Bridges of Madison County "Time Stop" Big Fish "I've Decided to Marry You" A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder "Raining" Rocky
