Emma Hunton will be joining the 1st National Wicked tour as Elphaba starting April 23rd in Virginia.
I feel awful for the audiences who have to witness this.

They already had an actress like that in the 1st national tour play lead Elphaba in 2007 and she was also the standby through most of 2006. It would have been better if she had played Nessarose. She shrieked way too much when playing Elphaba and had trouble keeping up with the melody.

The first national tour is coming to LA this December, and it'll be my first time seeing Wicked (don't judge). I hope Nick Adams stays as Fiyero & I have a really good Elphaba as my first

I actually enjoy Emma Hunton very much. She was a great Maureen in RENT at New World Stages, though I do think she has the tendency to shout a bit. She's definitely going to have to be extra careful about not damaging her voice with this, but I'm anxious to see what she'll do with the role.

I've seen Emma as Young Cosette, Natalie, and Maureen. I'd LOVE to see her as Elphaba.

I know I'm in the minority, but the last tour (with Mamie Parris) was the worst interpretation I've seen. I'd love to see Emma take a shot at it.

I still remember how hilariously she delivered the "Portland" one-liner. She is my favourite Natalie and I've seen the show 10 times with various casts (on tour, Broadway and a couple of productions in Australia).
