Anybody going through this season? Really solid television, and for me much more interesting than the more celebrated House of Cards. Admittedly, the title stinks (along with the commercials for the show) and I was weary of how Jenji Kohan would do a women prison show based on when Nancy Botwin went to prison in Weeds but it is great. I would say in Episode 3 (directed by JODIE FOSTER) is , which is an episode centered around one of the prisoners who is a transwoman (played by an actual transwoman, Laverne Cox), is when it picks up and it keeps steam-rolling forward in quality.
Taylor Schilling, Kate Mulgrew, Taryn Manning, and Natasha Lyonne are outstanding. The cast is a real embarrassment of riches. Pablo Schreiber is an officer that goes by 'Pornstache' who somehow remains charming. I had no idea Laura Prepon had that in her as Schilling's character's ex-girlfriend who she meets again in prison. What easily could have been a fish out of water story the whole season is turned on its head and introduces characters with a lot of nuance.
Not spoiling anything (except thank goodness it got a season 2 renewal because the finale is a doozy) but it is a show with a good mixture of laughs and tears.
I also have that opening title song by Regina Spektor stuck in my head. To me that show and The Americans top my favorite new shows of 2013.
Loving it! For me, the pilot episode dragged a bit, and after having watched it, I wasn't sure I would be able to get into the series. Glad I stuck with it. Now, six episodes in, I'm hooked! The cast is excellent! And LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Mulgrew!!! Really admire how, initially, all of the inmates come off as scary one-dimensional stereotypes, and with each succeeding episode, through the telling of their backstories, are humanized and develop into fully fleshed-out characters. Really well done! Highly recommend!
Finished the first season on Friday night. Overall, I absolutely loved it. The first few episodes are a bit too concerned with setting up the plot and exposition, but once the show settles and gets its footing, it's incredibly funny, endearing, smart, and oddly touching. And it could not be performed by a stronger ensemble, led by a wonderful performance from Taylor Schilling. Netflix is really creating some great television.
I loved it. My roommates and I blew threw it in less than a week. Mulgrew is marvelous and though I've never liked Taryn Manning, I thought she was incredible in this. I thought it was well cast and at times it reminded me of Weeds at its very best.
I could watch Taystee and Poussey talking white forever.
I read that the show is starting production on the next season in a few weeks. I wonder when it will hit Netflix.
I'm about halfway through as well - great series so far. I've read so many people on here and other sites saying the finale is great - looking forward to getting to it.
I finished the show in about 4 days. I really enjoyed it. Really strong cast and interesting stories. Yes, Taryn Manning was never on my radar for being an actor I care about. But, in this show I like her. Natasha Lyonne is another favorite of mine. Actually, it is just a strong female cast.

I believe they started filming the 2nd season this week. I love that Netflix puts all episodes of their shows out at once, but then it's also a curse. Once you get through all the episodes so quickly, you have to wait so long for new ones. I now will never complain about network tv breaks because at least you don't have to wait as long for new episodes and you stretch them out.

Saw the first episode, entirely well done but never caught my interest enough to feel like bothering any more with it.
