Proud grad of FSU! FSU has much stronger arts than UF and they have a really good dance department! Oh- and just because someone blows a song- it doesn't mean you are cut from the school immediately- but then again, it's NYADA. Tough school. Maybe Abby Lee Miller can send her students there!

SupportiveMom - Cool. My daughter loves FSU and they really do have one of the best college dance programs in the country. She was one of several dancers this year that studied dance abroad with FSU last May for four weeks. It was the first year they did the study abroad program in Paris and everyone loved it. My wife and I took the opportunity to "check in" on her and went to Paris and London for vacation.

My major was the History and Criticism of Art so all of my classes were in the fine arts building. The dance majors were in a different place but they were also in the fine arts building for some classes. That's great that they get to study abroad in France. Such a great opportunity. Neither of my kids wanted to go to FSU as they wanted to go out of state. My daughter is a freshman BFA Acting student at Northern Illinois and chose that school because in her junior year, her classes will be in Moscow for a semester. Studying abroad is such a great opportunity! Go Noles!

Our President has clearly made his choice in the matter.

SupportiveMom - studying in Moscow, that will be awesome for her !!! My daughter finished her junior year last April but will graduate this December (3 1/2 yrs). FSU is out of state for us and the only way we could have afford it (it is about $32,000 a yr) was with a very good scholarship. My daughter learned so much from the teachers in Paris and they are quite different than US. It was great for the dancers to learn different technique and styles of dance. They had quite a busy schedule Mon-Thurs with classes and lectures but had the rest of the week to explore Paris. While we were there, we took my daughter to London with us for the weekend.

My son probably would have been paid to go to FSU based on his grades, class standing, and Florida Bright Future Scholarship. My daughter would have been pretty close to that. However, for an actor, it was hard for my son to pass up NYU and for my daughter to pass up the Chicago area. I may be broke but my kids are happy and thriving in a program that is well-suited for them. Sounds like you had a great trip with your daughter in Europe.

SupportiveMom - your son is in NYU, that is fantastic !!! I know how expensive it is so I give you all the credit in the world for helping him go to such a impressive school. My oldest daughter went to NYU for a semester (she graduated from Applachian State University), believe it was call Springtime in NY. (kind of like a study abroad program but only in NYC). She also did a internship ship at Broadway Dance Center a couple of summers ago. She is currently a dance teacher and has danced professionally several times with Modern Dance Company in NC. Yes, Europe was wonderful. We would love to go back but money and time off just gets in the way- lol. BTW - did Rachel Berry get a scholarship? If not, her parents must be well off - lol

I don't recall them ever saying if Rachel got a scholarship to NYADA. All I remember is that she got in. It still surprises me that someone with a voice like hers who is so in to MT, didn't bother taking dance classes along the way. Of course, this is the same character that didn't know Juilliard did not have a MT degree.

I hope they all move back to Ohio and end up living in Mrs. Garrett, I mean Mr. Schuester's house.

How on earth is Glee going to show a musical theatre school when they hate showtunes?

Also, Kate Hudson's Spanish was terrible.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

But we dont have a HoJo anymore. Good Luck At NYADA, Rachel Berry!

And was anyone else reminded of the saying for "Goddess" in SHOWGIRLS during Whoopi's class? After that first girl sang I expected Whoopi to say "This is NYADA, not church. see ya!"

May I ask why AMDA has always been SCAMDA, I've never gotten a detailed answer.

SupportiveMom - agree about taking dance classes. Thought everyone in MT had to be a "triple threat" to get anywhere on Broadway.

Kate Hudson's "dance" was a joke. Why would they start her out saying she could out-dance anyone in the class and then go straight into that number where she just ran around and wiggled occasionally with class members actually dancing all around her? All I could think of was "Little Do They Know" from The Act.

Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.

artscallion- I thought the same thing! I didn't see any real dancing in the Kate Hudson number by her and was very disappointed by that. Her body looked great though!

JohnnyBroadway: To answer the SCAMDA question, from what I understand, the program has a reputation of not being all that selective and being uber expensive. They also have a reputation of not really teaching- they just want your money and you only get a certificate- not a degree. It's also not reputable to casting agents. That's my impression. I have seen some talented people come from that school but I don't know about recently.

"I hope they all move back to Ohio and end up living in Mrs. Garrett, I mean Mr. Schuester's house. "

They can open up a novelty gift store! Think of all the song opportunities!
