"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott

Why don't you like Wicked? It has incredible music, beautiful scenery, and a great story. Why do some people have to be so against such a wonderful show!?

Could Loretta Swit be a good Elphaba? Or is she more of a Dr. Dillamond?

Sidenote: I do love Karimloo and am seeing his concert in September. Updated On: 8/5/12 at 06:34 PM

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

As some are treating this post as yet another way to prove how sassy/bitchy/obnoxious they can be I myself will prove to be a kinder, gentler poster and treat it with respect. Because its always fun to show how gay one can be:

1) TIE: "A Chorus Line"
"Sunday in the Park with George"
3) "Follies"
4) "Gypsy"
5) "Pacific Overtures"

Sorry "Night Music", "Billy Elliott", "Little Shop" and "Nine". And "Dreamgirls", "Company" and "March of the Falsettos"...

Musicals:

next to normal
Sweeney Todd
Gypsy
Follies
[don't really have a 5th spot..probably NIGHT MUSIC or COMPANY or SUNDAY]

Favourite actors:
Bernadette Peters
Patti LuPone
Marin Mazzie
Donna Murphy
Angela Lansbury

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

I find it rather amusing that someone whose favorite musicals include both Phantom and Spring Awakening has the audacity to pass judgement on those who enjoy Wicked and Rent.

We have a winner!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
