They technically had one, but it wasn't televised. They had it over two commercial breaks. I was sad that it wasn't there as well. It usually recognizes greats that don't get much recognition outside of the industry during there lives.
I always thought the commercials were when everyone ran to the bathroom and sipped from their flasks.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
Gothampc actually thats what they used to be...with all of the creatives done at 7 during the breaks they just showed extended performances...and film clips such as this Shrek Auditions 2009 Tonys
I think this is the biggest faux pas of the evening. They reallly should be ashamed of themselves.
Does anyone know if TonyAward.com has it posted anywhere?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I was at the ceremony, they did show the In Memoriam segment during a commercial break. I can't believe they didn't include this in the main telecast! We got Hairspray and Godspell, but no In Memoriam? Blasphemy! Also, they played other videos during different commercial breaks too, like previews for upcoming shows (Bring it On, Rebecca...), the Anything Goes "What Makes You Beautiful" video, and this one video of cast members from the four nominees for Best Musical having a "dance-of" in Times Square.
I finally got to see it on YouTube. It is absolutely APPALLING that this wasn't shown during the broadcast. For some of the deceased, this would have been their last chance to get recognition and appreciation for what they accomplished during their careers. Let's start a petition!
