CASTING NOTICE FOR “ANGELS WITHOUT WINGS” by DR. JAMIE CUTLER. The story of the beginning of the WASP program in WWII and the women who gave their dreams and lives for the opportunity to defend their country.

AUDITIONS WILL BE SUNDAY, JUNE 24th FROM 2PM-6 PM upstairs at Bongo Java (Belmont). The production will be August 2nd-11th, with performances Thursday-Sunday. The production will be directed ...by Dr. Jamie Cutler. The following roles below are available. CHARACTERS - ANGELS WITHOUT WINGS

LOIS – late 20’s, early 30’s; dark hair, ingénue, Lois is a blue blood, Philadelphian who is of Jewish lineage. Her husband is stationed in Florida for officer’s training school. As a bored young bride she began her flight training in Miami. A tomboy, she has always been Daddy’s little girl, and pal at the same time.

MADGE-late 20’s/early 30’s; down home farm girl from Oklahoma, probably could be a mechanical engineer with all of her “real world” knowledge; falls in love with Guy but isn’t fully aware since it’s the first time

LYDIA – early 20’s, A fair-skinned multi-ethnic; ‘passing for white person,’ she grew up on the beaches and mountainsides of California. Lydia began flying for the sheer thrill and fun of being in the air. Recently she was informed that her husband is Missing In Action. She is petite, feisty, and determined; a perfect cover girl for the Women in Flight.

MARY JANE – early 30’s, A Wyoming gal, Mary Jane is searching for adventure or a suitable husband, as she explores the skies for both. Mary Jane received one of the famous “Calls for women pilot” letters from Jacqueline Cochran of WW II fame. Her natural enthusiasm and passion make her a great pilot.

PEGGY—late teens/early 20’s; needs to resemble actress who plays Sissy; wants to grow up way too fast and wants to take a walk on the wild side since she is far from her parents; very outgoing and outspoken.

SISSY – early 30’s, resembles actress who plays Peggy, fair skin, fair eyes; Sis is the older of two sisters from the Mid West. Sissy is patriotic and a good girl, who always listened to her parents. Sissy is in command, in charge, filled with bravado, courage, and confidence. Sis is always trying to protect Peggy from the harsh realities of life.

GUY MARCUS– early 20’s, thinks he is every girl’s dream, pretty boy; Guy is an oil brat who has come to Sweetwater to get away from his family. He works on an oilrig and comes to the Texas airfield to help service the planes.

MAJOR MARCUS – late 30’s, attractive, rugged, Major Marcus is Guy’s older brother and the primary flight instructor at Avenger Field. The Major injured he’s been assigned to train the women pilots.
