Since at least 75% of male musical theatre songs are written for baritones, what's the problem?
Start with any song sung by the male lead character in:
OKLAHOMA, CAROUSEL, SOUTH PACIFIC, KISS ME KATE, KISMET, THE MUSIC MAN, MAN OF LA MANCHA, CAMELOT, GUYS AND DOLLS, BELLS ARE RINGING, WONDERFUL TOWN, CARNIVAL, WHERE'S CHARLEY, FUNNY GIRL, SWEENEY TODD, ANYTHING GOES, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, ETC. ETC. ETC...
Have you tried "Do You Hear the People Sing?" from Les Miserables? I would love to sing that song if my range was larger than low F to the A below middle-C. The worst part about having the limited, low range is that I am only twelve years old until the fourteenth of this month.
Try musicaltheatreaudition.com and click on songs. It's GREAT, except that they're usually overdone songs, but it's definitely a start.
Going to NYC for the 1st (real) time! Seeing Next to Normal, Wicked, and Jersey Boys. If anyone has a suggestion for rush Wednesday matinee (something not mainstream) please PM me! :D
